dose any one know if a 700r4 will fit with the stock drive shaft or dose it need to be cut down for a 65 chevelle?

It will have to be shortened to fit the 700 do a search at TC you will find more info.

The 700 is about 3'' longer then the 350. and it also has a farther back mount so you'll need to make an adapter plate to locate it to the crossmember.
But if you have a 9'' tailshaft on the 350 then there is no difference in length from the 700
