View Full Version : Has anybody ever tried Spal power window kits?

They look easier to install than Electric Life (plus less expensive) and I am wondering if they work as well and are reliable. These are the ones I am talking about.

That is a whole different set up then Electric Life. That type of power window hooks up to your existing tracks and motors the existing window crank lever; thus the price difference. They work fine as long as your track is in good shape and you don't mind the crank still sticking out on your door panel.

They seem like a simple design that would work well. I now see what those plugs in the pics are for.

We put them on our car and made new custom one off door panels for them. They work excellent.

We used them on my dad's '56 to convert the vent windows to power. We didn't want them to intrude on the door panel, so we cut the shaft off of the regulator, and welded it onto the back side, then hid the unit inside the door.

We've had no problems with them, and they've been in the car for 5 or so years now.

I used a SPAL kit on my V8 Vega. Easy to install, & has held up well.
