GBODY GMACHINE Update with Pics

Hey guys. Things have been moving rather slow. I keep running out of money so it is hard to make any real progress. I did get the rear end in though. It took a little time but it fits well and the coil overs look great too. Next I am going to put the front clip back on, thats free. Then I want to get the front brakes complete and hopefully set the car on the ground for the first time on 18's.

The center bar looks like it could hit the top of the differential on a rough bump...

Tony, It looks close but there is about 6 inch's of clearance.

I received an I M yesterday asking what the setup was.
I am running double adjustable upper control arms from Ebay as well as double adjustable lower control arms from Ebay. I cut out the orig spring pockets off the frame and put in my own crossmember and bracing. I made the coilover brackets for the axle out of 1/4" steel and welded them on. The Coilovers are from Strange with 200lb Hypercoil Springs. I really like them. The brakes are from SSBC and are ment for a 12 bolt from an A-body, but I made them fit.
Any other ?'s please ask.

How about a 3/4 view of the rear wheel, so we can gauge the tire width compared to the quarter panel??What size wheels and tires are they.I love the fab work, looks killer.Keep the pics and info flowing!!

The Wheel is not bolted to the axle at the moment, it will sit about 1/2" further in. The size is 295/35/18.
I am going to remove the chrome trim and roll the quarter a little bit so I can get it to tuck just a little bit. I should have that done within the next couple weeks.

I'll bet there's a lot of people watching this build. I think the G-Body is probably the most intriguing of all the late model builds. When all the Malibu's are swallowed up...these will probably be next. Nice progress on the car, and keep us posted.

NICE...i really dig it.just the right amount of tire for me.I agree that when all the malibus are gone these will take there place.I have kept an eye on your build and it looks killer.:headbang:

I dont know why the Malibu hit as hard as it did. I think it has a bit more muscular look to it, but the Regal and GN is the only G-body I have a "thing" for. The tail lights do it for me.

After seeing how awesome the coilovers look, I'm seriously considering something similar on my 87 SS. If I may ask, which Strange coilovers are those? I'm not totally sure on what the proper lengths for extended and compressed should be.

18x9 and 18x10. They are for a BMW. I had spacers made and I dont have the BS calculations in front of me right now. not sure what ET is but let me know.

ET is a sort of backspacing measurement that always comes on european and jap wheels, its is the backspacing in milimeters measured from the centerline and out..

im asking about size because ive been considdering buying one if those ebay sets od staggered 18 or 19 X 8.5 and 9.5 that every ebay wheelshop sells,

what size spaces did you have made? im going to get a set of bmw wheels for a regal and im going to need some spacers. i know that if i put my 12 bolt on the car, its an inch longer on each side, would that be ok with out any spacers or not? just seeing what you think about it.

Sorry it took so long to respond. They are 8" Springs. The shortest coilovers Strange makes. You could go taller if you wanted but this was good for my application. When you build it from scratch, it could be different then mine.

I will figure that out tomorrow. But I have a frame notch so it may be different from what you need. I think a 9.5 will fit out back without a notch, 8.5 up front is still wide.

The spacer up front is 1.760" and out back 1.000". I will calculate the total BS when I find the specs for the wheels.
