My Dad and I started a new nova project for him. Since mines going to take awhile we're going to try to take care of this one in the next two months. It started out as a plain jane straight six car. When it's finished it will include; DSE mini tubs, Quadra link, subframe connectors, 6pt roll bar, Speed 3 subframe kit, tko 600, 383sbc, strange 9" rear, z06 brakes with hydroboost, Fikse profil 13 18x8.5 and 18x10.5" along with a Recaro interior. I'll keep pics updated as the build progresses.

Thanks guys, The project has been on hold for the past few months due to work, But should be coming together as a roller by the end of this month. A couple plans changed on it. It now has the DSE hydroformed subframe and I'm working on making a metal instrument panel insert. I'll post some pics shortly.
BTW what are the specs on the rims and tire sizes?
The wheels are 18x10.5 5.125 BS with 295/35 and 18x8.5 5.625 BS with 245/40 tires

I love the stance and hope that I can get mine that low. It will take some playing around with the front springs.
I see you already have headers on the LS mock-up. Whose headers are they, are they full length, and how much clearance do they give you with that low stance? Headers and exhaust always seem to be the lowest point on any of the cars I have worked on. I am trying to find a decent pair that hugs the floor.

The headers are Stainless Works long tubes for rack and pinion steering. They hug the floor very nicely. They only hang below the subframe about 3/8", which is a lot better than most off the shelf long tube headers. At my ride height they are about 4" from the ground.

I need more details on what you did for your 6x9's. The tweeters always stick up too high for a flush mount. Did you fab up the metal drop brackets, or buy them?
I was thinking about just going crazy with a couple of pieces of MDF and a router, but I like what you did with the metal.

Thanks, Yes I agree the tweeters do stick up pretty high so I fabbed up the speaker mounts so they would sit flush. allowing them to remain under the package tray.

I haven't updated in awhile, been busy with a bunch of small things. Here are a couple of pics of what I did this past week. Made a mount for my battery mount and modified the LS3 oil pan to clear the DSE subframe. Then I added a kickout to replace the volume I removed from the front and added a little extra capacity. I also added in a bung for an oil temp sender.

Whos e brake cable bracket is that
It started out as a bracket from Kore3. Then I welded on my own piece to make it longer, and put it at a different angle. as well as add a notch so the caliper bolt can be removed without removing the bracket. Heres a pic of it installed

Can you run your front grease cao on the front hubs and still use your center cap for your wheels?
The reason that i ask is that i have forgeline wheels with teh C6Z brakes and cant run the canter cap with the grease cap installed? do you plan on running without one?

:lmao: I did the same thing to support a wider rad in my Nova. Rather than add a piece to it, I cut up two braces and welded them together for the longer length. Mind you, I think your's turned out much better than mine.
GM did make some that wide, but they are damn near impossible to find.

Fortunatly I dont have that problem ,because the subframe utilizes c6 uprights and bearing packs so theres no grease cap. I have however ran into your problem before. I would check to see if you can run perhaps a lower profile grease cap.

Thanks, at first I made a aluminum punch and flare rad cover, but once it was on I decided it wasnt the look we were going for so I found the old one to give it a more understated look. I just widened it an inch to make the bolt spacing equal.
Here are a couple newer random pics. The vintage air is mocked up as well as the controls in the dash, and a new gas pedal bracket is fabbed.

If you do not mind me asking you a few questions? I have some!
1.) The gas pedal is electronic, that is only for the LS3 and LS7 wiring harness correct?
2.) What was the particular process you used to make those speaker mounts?
3.) Besides the welder, drill press? What equipment are you using to fabricate all of the metal parts?
a shear? brake? Roll?
4.) what made you switch from the stock front-end to the DSE?
The car is coming along great!
I have a '72 I'm planning out.
I do not believe that NOTORIOUS casts a shadow too large to follow behind! It is a unique car indeed, but it isn't the be end all of custom nova's!
I think it is simply inspirational at most.
Keep up the hard work! :lurk:

1) There are also aftermarket harnesses that will allow you to run a Drive by wire pedal.
2) The first set of speaker boxes I just made some templates then cut the pieces out sheetmetal then welded them together. After that I sent off a modified design and had a few sets Laser cut to have for other projects. If you need some let me know I have some extras.
3) We have a brake, foot shear, vertical mill, lathe, planishing hammer, bead roller, shrinker/stretcher, press, and a few other odds and ends.
4) The main reason we switched is because i'm a sucker for good engineering, but dont get me wrong the modfied stock subframes perform and feel really well. It's just the opportunity for me to get the new one arrose so I jumped on it.
The fuel filler arrived today. Decided to put it in the tail panel.

WOOHOO!.. some updates. Sorry things have been way busy. anyways, here are some newish pics of some stuff. While replacing the dash top we decided to just go ahead and make the car have an 8pt cage. Also we decided for what the cars going to be used for we should have some rear diff and tranny coolers so we started gathering ingredients for that addition. Got the driveshaft made and our Ron Davis rad came in.

The column opening is going to remain its factory ways for this car.
The welders we have that I've used for this project are Lincoln power mig 140 (110v), power mig 255 (220), and Precision tig 275. Depending on what your planing on welding you would be fine with a 110v unit for sheetmetal work up to 11ga anything thicker I'll usually use the 220v unit. However my welder of choice for everything is the TIG welder. Hope that answered your question.

Your reservoir looks great!
I have an Afco power steering reservoir with the incoming line up high like you have it and I don't really care for it. Seems like the fluid has to be above that with the engine running or it foams up, and there is not a lot of room for error between full enough and to full so it overflows when it gets warmed up. There is also a piece on the inside that blocks it from coming straight out and it somewhat squirts it to the sides.

The tarp is 6 mil plastic that came in a 20'x100' roll from home depot I believe. Hope that helps.

Did you fab the mount for the fuel pump lock ring or was the tank purchased that way? I'm looking to do something very similar.

The trunk has a base of raptor bedliner then shot with eastwood trunk paint followed by a couple coats of clear.
Got the engine in this weekend. Took a couple shots.
