This may have been asked and answered before and if so I apologize. But what do you and or your father do for a living? Not trying to be too nosey here. You just don't often see a hobbiest with a paint scale and a 3M Papr unit in their garage. And on that note, can you give us some specs on that shop? That looks great as well.

Love the car! It truely is awesome. I especially love it's subtleties. Great job, can't wait to see the finished pics.

Good luck in Columbus!!

Thanks Glenn, My Dad and I both work for a construction company. He is the Heavy equipment manager and I do the project fabrication. We have done some side work with cars on and off for for a few years now. However soon I plan to switch to full time on the car projects. Due to the amount we have coming in. The shop is split up into three sections. There is a 30'x40' machine area. A 60'x40' project area, and a 25'x36' room that we keep open for paint or storage.

Heres a few shots of the front end from two days ago. New pics should follow soon.

Thanks guys, The project has been on hold for the past few months due to work, But should be coming together as a roller by the end of this month. A couple plans changed on it. It now has the DSE hydroformed subframe and I'm working on making a metal instrument panel insert. I'll post some pics shortly.

The wheels are 18x10.5 5.125 BS with 295/35 and 18x8.5 5.625 BS with 245/40 tires

Billy

Did you end up getting new wheel/tires for this package?

Whats the spec on the new wheels?

Just stumbled upon this build, . . . . .

Sorry, just can't think of anything to say that hasn't already been said.

Your attention to detail is impressive to say the least. Awesome build.

Sorry if I missed it but could you say what you used as an undercoating? I read that the trunk has a base of Raptor so I imagine that would be a good guess.

Thank you in advance.

I'll let Billy chime in with the update. I talked to him on Friday and he said that he had been really busy with the day job and wasn't able to finish the car in time so they didn't make it to Columbus.

I think he is shooting to make it to RTH in September.

I'm with all of you, I can't wait to see this car finished.

Keep up the good work Billy - and try to get some sleep from time to time too!

I had built an x-pipe for the exhaust then started thinking what I could do that would be less restrictive and at the same time quiet the exhaust down some. Hopefully it turns out as anticipated. I'm quite anxious to get engine fired to hear the results. I'm just finishing up the tailpipes now then I will get some new pics up.

Bill,
A couple of questions.
1) how did you go about redoing the dash insert? It looks really clean/what material did you use?

2) is that a diff oil cooler and pump I see? Can you elaborate on this system?

Thanks!

1) The dash started as a DSE 69 camaro dash. The entire top and passenger side was cut off then it was fabbed up to fit in the nova opening. It is all 18ga steel.

2) Yes that is a diff cooler and pump. It will just be used during track time. The two switches on the dash operate the trans and diff cooler pumps.

Hey Jess, yes thats ride height for the most part. It might settle down a little more but thats about it.

put the car on the scales last night just to see where its currently at. with me in it and a 1/4 tank of fuel it's at 2935.lbs with a 50/50 f/r %. Shooting for a total weight with driver around 3500lbs when finished.

She handles great, but yes, she oversteers quite a bit. I didn't do any tuning yet that was straight out of the box. Hopefully next week I'll get it out to the track for some adjustments and tighten it up a bit.

Thanks Chris, In my opinion the system with the mufflers in the back is a lot more tolerable than having the mufflers in the traditional under back seat location. I built an identical system on another car with the same muffler but they were placed under the back seat area. The result was a noticable increase in interior resonance.

Hey Justin. For these calipers we have just used the VHT high heat paint. It holds up well as long as brake fluid doesn't contact it. When we rebuild the calipers with new pistons and seals we'll have them powder coated.

We just got back a couple days ago from one of the best car events we have ever been to. Optima Batteries search for the ultimate street car at Daytona international speedway. It was a total bucket list event and the USCA did an awesome job putting it on. If anybody has one of their events coming close to them I would highly suggest signing up and checking it out. Be prepared to have more seat time driving than you will be able to handle.
I thought I would update the build thread on the car with some videos from the Track. The car worked very well even at the extended high speed runs and 100+ degree daytime temperatures.
