On the '05 & '06 Power Tours I averaged 14.5mpg with a 11.5:1 454, Eddy dual quads, 3:42 gear and TKO. During one ALL interstate stint I got 18mpg (reeeeeal light on the pedal).
The 572 with the same rear/trans and a 850 Demon gets 13mpg.

Yep, the speedo is correct..
18 MPG - From Lake of the Ozarks to Columbia - 170 miles round trip

at the Lake it was $2.99 premium!, Here its $3.35 (St. Louis)..
The carbs too big.. 750 eddy on a 350, I need a 600 or 650.. might see a little better mpgs then.. I was pretty light on it.. but the bastid kept slipping in and out of lockup at times...

10-12mpg with a 950cfm carb; 15.6mpg with the 750cfm. (I think having only 1 power valve on the 750 and the higher vacuum signal helped more than anything.); 31.5mpg is my best with the vette... guess which one I'll drive more if gas keeps going up!

GTO gets 22/23 mpg consistantly since Mike tuned it.
Malibu got 17 mpg on the last road trip.
Melinda's E-320 got 37 mpg last trip.....:hand:

Tony, you should be getting 20mpg (or more) with a 200-4R and 3.42s once it's tuned. My old heads'n'cam TPI 305/200-4R/3.73 setup in the Monte got 21mpg with the AC on at 70mph.

69 on the last power tour, avg 12mpg. Blasting it ALOT! It has got as good as 17mpg. Oh, and as bad as 4mpg!
The 58 with a 348 got 18.4mpg coming home from Dallas last month at 80mph. This last weekend, it got 16mpg. My chics Escalade gets only 15mpg and the F250 Diesel gets 15mpg also.
This is all average, not the peak's.

1996 Camaro Z28 Convertible - 350 - 6 speed - about 14mpg hwy.
Traded it in on Friday for a new Corolla 5 speed. 30+mpg (42 mpg EPA hwy), stable and quiet at 100mph, and you actually have to shift to stay in the powerband, rather than just dumping it in 4th or 5th to keep the gas mileage from tanking. Funny, now that I'm driving a Toyota instead of a Camaro, nobody wants to race or cut me off.
$4 a gallon this summer in CA means you guys from the midwest ought to come out here, get some sun and surf, and pick up a new ride cheap, as I bet I'm not the only one going from 8 cylinders to 4.

ah the joys of multi-carbs... the 'bird has not been tuned at all... but cruising it is only running a a single 350cfm carb... stomp the gas and you get 1350cfm... gotta love it!

Wow, I used to get 24-28mpg with my '93 Z28 Automatic (3.23 rearend) on the highway. Measured it several times on a 6 hour highway trip (about 3 times per year) averaging 70-75mph most of the time.

When I drove my GN from CT to PA to get back up to school with it, which is about 450 miles, I was getting about 23-24 mpg with it! I was super pumped about that, being that I was cruising at around 70 or so the whole time, but I obviously was taking it easy too....no turbo at all. :drive2:

On Power Tour last year the Mule averaged a little over 16mpg with the AC running most of the time. The year before I managed one nothing but highway stint, concentrating on mileage and managed 19mpg.

I would think you should be getting better than that
with the same motor, 373's and a T-56 in my s-10 i was seeing 18 at about 75 mph, and some blasts to get up to speed, although that starts to kill it real quick. When I went from the eddy 650 to holley 750 I lost mileage, but did gain some power.

I got 26 mpg going to Maple Grove last year. LS1,6sd,3:90 rear gear. That was on cruise at 80 not my foot on and off the gas.
I got 9 to 10 mpg going around Lime Rock Park last weekend. turning laps around 1;05. Thought that was great.

I average about 23 MPG on the highway with my lt1/4l60E and 3:73's.
Wow - that is pretty good. Stock tune in the Lt1? I need to tweak my tune some - probably too rich. I am lucky to get around 18-19 highway with my LT1/4LE60 combo with 3.55's and a 26.5" tire. That is averaging around 70mph.
I get around 14-16 in combo driving depending how much I get into the throttle, and the % of steady state freeway driving I do. Generally that is close to 50/50 city streets and hi-way. Same cycle returned ~17-18 in a CTS-V, but more slippery than a '69 Camaro and 6-speed instead of AT helps, plus the LS motors are just more efficient than the LT1's.
Oh - my LT1 has a LT4 hot cam too, probably doesn't help around town mileage - shouldn't affect freeway too much tho.

My 56' with a 9-1 compression 400hp 355 with a
[email protected] cam, Muncie 4 speed, and Ford 9" with 2.75 gears used to get 18 average on my 4 hour drives to and from college. On a mileage run on 1-80 on a nice 75 degree day I was able to make 24 mpg. Trick was a Holley 750 vac secondary with a heavy secondary spring with a vac advance distributor and a nice edge of lean tune. Car actually was pretty fast on this setup with my 3.89 gearset, but hiway mileage went down to 13mpg.

C4racer, I am currently running a pcmforless.com tune. That was with a MAF style tune. I just swapped over to a speed density tune and will find out how the mileage will be on the PT. The tuner, Bryan Herter, says to expect only about .5 mpg less with this tune. Most of my driving is about 50/50 like yours. If I run 60/65 on the highway, it can get that kind of mileage. Unfortunatley I like to cruise 70/75 and get around 20. BTW, did you find out anymore info on the console swap? I am putting in a t56 after the PT and am still trying to decide whether to stay with the stock one or go with a LS1 style console (have both).

The Nova with 327/T400 3:55 gears, I would get 16/17 going back and forth to work, right around 65 to 70 mph, driving in town I couldn't help playing with the converter, the combo was good for 13.0, It would have gone faster but I quit going to the track,

I have no idea. All I know is I usually put in 5 gals of 110 race fuel ($32) almost every time I drive it.I generally top off with some 91 pump gas...this generally gets me 60-75 miles...maybe.My foot is in it almost all the time...
Whatever that number is...I know it ain't good but you know what?
I wouldn't have it any other way...:drive2:
