Narrowing Wheels

Is it safe to have a set of wheels narrowed? I can buy a set of OEM C6 wheels, but the fronts are like 9.5" wide. Too wide for my GTO, from what I understand...

If it's possible, who does it and how much is it usually?

Your are able to get aftermarket c6 wheels in an 8.5" width if that helps.

Yeah, its the backspacing that matters though....
