just curious as too how many exhaust hangers you all have on your systems?? I seem to only have one at the rear of the muffler...doesnt seem like it is enough b/c it just cracked!! Herer is my set up....
Full tube headers going to a H pipe...no cats...then the flowmasters and after the mufflers the pipe does a 180 turn and end up into a boom tube on each side. The hanger is welded onto the rear of the muffler and attatched to some peice on the floor pan. It ripped when I took the motor out b/c I guess all the weight of the system was hanging on that one lil hanger. Could and should I add more?

I've always had two at the rear of each muffler, then two more for support near the end of the tailpipes. Even when I just had turndowns after the mufflers I only had the two. No problems so far.

Me, I have 8. 4 per side.
I have double shear hangers just behind the header flanges, ahead of the X-pipe, then a single shear hanger where the turn up starts to the mufflers. After the mufflers I have another double shear hanger just over the rear housing. Then I have a single shear hanger just ahead of the exhaust tip.
I used Stainless Works hangers and grommets.

I only have 4....2 per side. One behind each muffler and one on the tail pipe.

does anyone have any pics of there set ups?? I was thinking about using some "factory" style hangers...with the rubber rings on the rod type hangers??

I hung the pipes on my 77 Monza way back from the seat belt bolts sticking through the floor. The engine had solid plate mounts so I hung my headers then bent the old pipes off my 71 MonteCarlo. One cut and pull it into place and reweld on one side and cut twice and pull into place ,got the flat hanger strapswith holes in them, hung them from the seatbelt bolts after installing a few flat washers, then hung my Afterburners on the car and thet fit awesome and the car never had the exhaust hanging down to be seen.
Now thinking of the Cherry Bomb small tube type mufflers or Dynomax turbo tubes or what ever they are called.
I hope to be able to go over the axle even with Air Ride and straight out the back.
As for the oring hangers just go to hardware and buy solid rod and weld it on and heat and curl it and you can make weld plates and use same rod material and weld it to the floor of the car. I made a few of these and they worked great, guy was claening and paintingthe floors so he wasnt afraid to weld on the floor. we used 1/8in craft metal, made them several inches long and cut 4 holes in them progressivly smaller and welded them in and all arond(I loved his new "jewelers" tig welder. You couldnt hardly tell where they were welded, as the welds were so smooth, especially after a little sanding.
