Hey guys I just bought this car.. Its a 72 camaro with a turbo v8 350 ci. I dont know anythink about this set up. The car runs fine and has a nice punch after the turbo spools up. The thing is I bought a 97 lt1 motor and trans complete set up for this project before I bought the car. I want the car to be somewhat of a daily driver. And this old motor is a beast on gas... but a lot of fun can you guy tell me anything about this setup or do you thing I could put this turbo on my lt1 and by the way its not intercooled

having a carburated turbo as a daily driver is basically futile.
why do you think those turbo maseratis from the 80's are
so inexpensive? a carb can only handle one condition,
on boost or off boost. as a driver you need the intake to be
smart enough to handle both modes.
imo if you are willing to become turbo savvy and upgrade to efi you
will be very happy (and super cool) with the power and drivablility of
a turbo v8. otherwise go with the lt1.

Since you mention daily driver in your post, I'd definitely change SOMETHING, either go to the LT1 altogether, or swap to EFI. I'm addicted to boost, so what *I* would do is probably sell the turbo motor, swap in the LT1/T56, and give STS a call about adapting their LT1 turbo kit to your chassis. They make a universal kit, so it's probably just a few pieces from both kits. I'm sure you wouldn't be the first one to try this on your car either. My roomate has a '99 SS with the LS1 kit plus a few accessories like a FMIC. Right now he's making 483whp/470wtq with the otherwise-stock motor at 7psi (with room to breathe) and can still knock down 25mpg on the highway.

There are a bunch of people running turbos and carbs successfully on the street daily. Check out CUS carbs or C&S Specialty crabs. Also look around www.turbomustangs.com (http://www.turbomustangs.com) in the carb tech section. You will find the info you need.
I vote for a turbo!
