My wife insists that I keep the bench in the elCamino- not that she wants to snuggle (we're both too old and ugly for this kind of romancin', so purge THAT thought right now), but on the off chance we ever carry a third body.

Planning on changing the burlap sacks I've got covering the seat right now to some dead cow skin (no problem PETA- I'll feed it hyde food), but I'd like to tailor the driver's side (it's a 40-60 split bench) of the chair for better lateral support. Anyone here have any information on how to start, what to do, who to talk to?

Is there a split bench like those found in some pickups available? Those have a fold down center and are more supportive than the originals. Just a thought. The front seat in my Crown Vic have a similar design and they hold on to you pretty good.

I actually went from buckets to a bench in my Elky. Really, its OK to have a bench and column shift..really! Take a look at 'Suckers Bet' ;)

It's already a 60/40 split bench w/ a fold down center armrest. And I really don't mind the bench (don't let the wife hear that! I'm using it as trading fodder).

Deal is, I'm still skinner than the distance between the door and the armrest, and I'd rather not be sliding around bangin' into them- i bruise easily.

C'mon Tony- a column shift? A bench, yes, but even I draw the line somewhere. And it's on the other side of column shift being acceptable.
