We were going to drive it a bit.. just one problem.
I forgot to bleed the clutch :pat:
lol.. the trans wouldn't go into gear. Oh well, easy enough to do.
The guys at BEST OF SHOW COACHWORKS have been great and I couldn't have gotten to where I am now without their help. Terrific group of gearheads, even John ;)

That is one awsome ride, and an inspiration to me, and I'm sure alot of others here. You probably didnt spend that much more than some of us, just do the right things the right way and THAT is the result. Your eye for clean execution, color coordination, meticulous attention to detail are certainly beyond reproach.
Now I wanna see the video of that mean mamma jamma layin down 100' of rubber!!!

I've been trying to figure how much this car would cost to build if you did most of the assembly yourself and farmed out the normal stuff like paint, interior, fabrication and such. I think this car could be duplicated for $70k. Maybe $80k... not having an audio system, AC or heat saves money ;)

Funny, I once read that Stielow built the mule for $80k. I wish I could quote a source, not sure where I read it. Might have even been the PHR articles someone had scanned.
This mean there might be some room opening up in the shop for my car?
Looking good Rupp. Sucker'll sure be mean when its opened up!

Sounds wicked, Steve. Have you had a chance to have the PCM tuned on the chassis dyno?
If not, we'll be wanting a video of that too. I'm sure everyone would agree that we have GOT to hear the wonderful sound of that LS2 screaming bloody murder on a chassis dyno.

No chassis tune yet. Speartech got it in the ballpark and the E38 is pretty adept at tuning itself to some degree. The chassis dyno will be in a couple weeks. Oh, and there will be video :)

Normally I would use the Muffler Man. However, the car is 80 miles away in San Mateo so I'm using a place called Wagners Performance in Oceanside. It's close and they do excelent work. The whole system will be flanged so I can get it coated easily.

lol.. actually it's fun when you go to a show and the "chalk guys" walk by and make comments about how you cut up and ruined a classic.. blah blah blah..

You mean "Camaro Nerds"? That's what I like to call them. Oh trust me....the Camaro Superfest in Washtenaw will be my most anticipated car show when I'm ready to roll. They boast the largest population of Camaro Nerds in the country. And they're as pompous as hell too. I've already had dealings with them in the past and I can't WAIT to hear what they have to say when they see my car.

If they truly are nerds, then the appropriate response to them would be a super-atomic wedgie.

Steve, Penny is hot!
I can't hear your motor right now because my wife decided last week to get a "litter box trained" BUNNY for my six year old son. You see, this little SOB is chewing wires as fast as I can solder them, he just hacked my speaker wires last night!
"Hey Dad while you were at work, Columbus (yup that's his name) got through that razor wire barrier you put up and ate some more wires."
Oh well the kids like him.
Penny wants me to listen to her and that is motivation enough for me to break out the iron and solder the speaker wires back together. Keep up the good work, I have very much enjoyed your updates.
Maybe I can get long ears to chew on my 220V feed for the plasma cutter. :)

Steve,
What is the forgeline finish color on the center of Penny's wheels? I have a 'buddernut' yellow '68, and I'm thinking something thats grayish would look great like their "gunmetal" finish. I'm likin' the looks of the finish you have...
Thanks,

Steve,
I got to see your car today (and chat with you a bit about some of the products that you've used on your car. . .the young guy with all the tattoos on his arms) and I just wanted to thank you again for sharing your thoughts and experiences with me! The car looks awesome!!! Good luck on the little things you said you still had to work on!

Steve,
thanks for taking the time out to talk to me yesterday. You said that you thought it looked better in pictures than in person but I have to disagree with you. The detail work that you put into the car, like the support for the air intake, you just have to see & experience firsthand to really appreciate. Penny is going to inspire a lot of people and builds. I'm now looking at how I can get that clean & smooth look under the hood for my Olds. And thanks for not telling my wife how much it cost to build. She'd think that we're all insane!
