So I'm going with the center covans classic dash piece for my 2 5/8 gauges. I spoke to covans, and they said there is no cutting of the dash needed to install....the gauges go into the existing heater, and stereo opening. Now my question is, how can I move the heater panel? I don't want to get rid of it completely because I will be getting a vintage air kit soon.

I figured out how to move the heater control panel to the glove box. Now...my only question, do I have to cut the dash to fit the 2 5/8" gauges in the panel? I called covans, one tech said no, one said yes. I want to make sure that there is no cutting involved before I buy it.

My covan's dash came with the holes cut out for the guages, unless they have changed.:wrc:

I ended up having to cut mine.

For those who wondered....you do have to cut the top portion for the gauges to fit. However, you don't have to cut the entire portion off. I just cut 2 little tabs that hold it to the dash, and slightly bent it back.
