Has anyone looked in to adapting the one that started comming on the 05 or 06 GM full size SUV and some trucks.

Bad plan. Those units are built for 6000LB trucks with 10000 GVWRs or more and and become hyper sensitive in 3500LB cars. Paul makes a variety of modification on the HydraTech units to make them work properly in cars. And they are still very sensitive even after he does his magic

explain that please.....they are hydraulic, the power steering pump will make more of a difference than anything in the unit itself can.

gearheads, I'm in the middle of one I'll post up on MR when I get it done

The size of the piston and the hydraulic pressure would be the 2 things that would affect the power, along with the pedal ratio.
Check out this cutaway. HBs are very simple things really.

Above all else, brakes are too serious of a safety issue to use scrapyard parts for anything other than core value!! Don't cheap out on your brakes Buy new or reconned!

Didn't/don't a lot of astro vans run hydroboost?

Years ago I stripped a 78 Mercury Marquis that had factory 4 wheel disc brakes, and it used a "hydroboost" type powerbrake system, with 4 lines coming out of the power steering pump, 2 to the steering box, and 2 to the power brake unit.
Look for a 77-78 full size ford/mercury/lincoln with the 4 wheel disc brake option. Later, Randy

Yes...and the early Bronco guys jump on them in the yards like a Chihuahua on a pork chop, so if you see one, better grab it fast.

I'm running one from an astro van. It works great and dosn't seem overly sensitive.

I have one from an Astro as well.

Bought the unit for $50... I am going to use it as a core for a new one at advanced auto (final cost will be $130 for a reman). I am using an LS1 Master and power brake booster brackets from summit. I will be in the whole setup for about $250 when all is said and done.
