Sanity Check--Solid Motor Mounts?

Solid motor mounts like this for my primarily street-driven car--good idea or no?

Would there be a handling/throttle response difference enough to make them worth it, or would they just rattle my teeth out on the street? Anybody run them in your PT car?

My Vette has a solid mount on the driver side and a rubber mount on the passenger side. It's not bad at all. I don't know how it would be with two solid mounts.

i have a soild on drivers side and regular on the pass side, its fine except when your idleing.....makes the whole car shake! going down the rd you would never know.

Yup, I got a solid and rubber, too. I haven't noticed much of a vibration increase anywhere (specifically at idle).

I don't think there'd be an increase in throttle response, but it's cool to rev it and have the whole car move. :smoke:

Both solids and a rubber trans mount here I dont mind it at all but I will be putting a ruffer cammed motor in soon so my mind may change.
If your running a small block make sure you dont use a newer melling oil pump or it will break. You need a Mselect pump.

I ran solid engine and rubber (or poly) transmisson mounts for years... and loved it. Solid engine mounts to tend to stiffen up the front cradle, which is a good thing for turning corners. I would not... run solid engine and trans mounts on a street chassis.

However, if your engine uses a "knock sensor"... I would also advise against using solid engine mounts. Specifically if you are going to run an "LS" series engine.

I have built several cars with engine plates and had solid mounts in my 70 Monte Carlo from the day I put tit together and through 2 small blocks and a big block. I still have those mounts too cause I made mine.
I have never had a problem with either big or small cams.

I use solid mounts and Poly trans mount. No problems but I have a 114 LSA Roller cam so that makes a difference at idle.

I'm running solids with a lsx motor, while it is stock, it never triggered the knock sensor when it was on the dyno and it has never once thrown a trouble code. Nock sensors can also be desensitized.

solid on last car, motorplates on current, not a prob, cars cooler shaking at idle imho
