Here are a few spy pics of a car that I started a while ago. I built the chassis for the guy. He bailed out of the project because of some other problems. Got to start over by cutting off the door skins, complete cage, firewall and tranny tunnel!

Looks like it's going to be a bad a$$ ride. Are you running Air Ride stuff? What are the rest of your plans with the car.

Awesome!
Are the doors widened in the front to work with widened front fenders?

Are widened about 2.5" at the front!! He couldn't firgure out hinges to make it all work! Gonna cut all the outside body mods off!!

Thanks Mark...so the widened doors are coming off? Is there some other method you will use to widen the front to fit the big rubber? Or will it work with stock front sheet metal?
Anybody remember the red/white one that sat on the ground and had a roots blown engine in it several years ago?
I just ran across it in an old magazine last week. That car was Bitchen!!
This one should be just as cool!! KEEP US UPDATED WITH PICS MAN! :)

I built the front tread width for the stock fenders with the 315/35/17's with BOGART 10" wheels.

Nope, one of my best friends just bought the car and I am helping home work on it. He is considering several different options but hasn't settled yet. It will be a ways down the road before he has to decide!

Ok Guys a little more information about the car:
1970 Dodge Hemi Charger Daytona (clone don't worry we didn't do this to an original wing car!)
Laughlin Nascar Style chrome moly full chassis and full cage- fabricated by the great Mark Giles, AKA Tig Man
528CU Aluminum Head Hemi built by Hensley Performance in Knoxville should be deep into the 700hp
Keisler Performance Tremec 5 speed transmission
Three Link Rear with 9" ford full floating housing. Will be running a Detriot Locker ratio TBD
Daytona Kit from Dayclona
Baer Nascar brakes
Sweet Manufacturing Power Steering
315/35/17 Front & 335/35/17 Rear on Bogart Racing Wheels
Sparco Seats
Will determine springs, sway bars, and shocks after we get car assembled and weighed
Let us know what you think and as always any suggestions or even criticism...
More info and pics to come!

As you can see the front firewall has been moved back..alot! Allowing that massive hemi to be moved back even more. The goal is of course 50-50 weight distribution. The other picture shows off some more of Mark Giles genius chassis building work.

Does not play well with:
Keisler Performance Tremec 5 speed transmission!
You might want to look into that... If you get any amount of traction I expect that transmission will have a short life. Everything else sounds awesome, the TKO is out of place. For that power level you can either go with something more race oriented like a Jerico: http://www.jericoperformance.com/5speedroad.htm or something more on the street side like a T-56 Magnum. The Jerico has the benefit of a 1:1 5th gear which will help keep the driveshaft speeds down. Can you still get 3.0 gears for a 9"? I guess the rear axle ratio and transmission you need depends on your desired top speed and what you will be doing with this car.
The T-56 Magnum has the benefit of the overdrive. With a 26.2" tire, 3.5 axle, and a 0.80 fifth gear you would top out at about 190mph in fifth, if the HP is there. 100mph is sixth with a 0.63 ratio is at a tick under 3000 rpm. This could be a wonderful combo for the Big Bend Open Road Race or something similar.

Guess I'll chime in... I'm the glutton for punishment thatl
that bought the car. Thanks to Jon for posting the updates and, more importantly, helping out with all the work.
The Tremec is definitely not up to the task of living behind the hemi, and I'm aware of that. It came with the car and Mark had already mocked up the mounts, tunnel, etc with that trans. That's the reason it'll be going in, at least primarily, with the understanding it'll be changed down the road. A T-56 Magnum is what I'm currently thinking long-term. The car will be primarily a street car with some weekend fun tossed in as well.
I appreciate any/all suggestions and help you guys provide as building a car like this is completely new to me.

Well, we got a chance to get a few days of work in and made a little progress. Continued mocking up the front sheet metal (still need lots of work there), dropped in the motor/trans, installed the rear, got spring heights, and put it up on scales. It's encouraging to see it resemble a car again, even if everything is only temporary.

Wow, that is like the badass version of my 69 caged charger i'm building... some guy was building a drift car out of it... yeah. you can get 2.50 used gears for the ford 9 inch. That and the 1.1 final gear on some sort of monster trans will get you 200 with any tires taller than 26 inches... loving that nascar chassis and 315mm front tires. Thats just insane. Looking forward to seeing this one come together.
