front wheel not centered in opening

Today test fit some wheels on my 2nd gen Camaro and the larger diameter of the tires causes rubbing on inner fenderwell when turned about 3/4 of the way to full lock. I noticed that the wheel is also off center when straight ahead. Attached is a photo. I also have 6* of caster which would attribute to this. I was wondering how your cars were. I have been working on 2nd gens for sooo many years and not sure if this ever came up.

What size tire is that?
Mary's 73 barely touches at full lock with a 245/45/17 with 7 deg positive caster.

Are the upper and lower control arm bushings in good shape. I had the same problem with my 68 Camaro. I just installed urethane bushings and it corrected the problem. Look at the pic of my 68 in my PT Garage. It was taken before I fixed the problem.

Sorry i should have mentioned the tires are 275/40/18. I usually have 255/45/17 up front, but a customer wanted to go "BIG" so I test fit my rears on the front. I think a 25.5" tall tire is the max on a lowered car, the 18" are nearly 27" tall. As far as bushings and such, all is good. Sorry guys, if you can't fit enough brake in a 17" wheel, you don't need it. Formula 1 runs 13" front wheels! Get a better brake!

We were thinking of trying 275x40x17's on the front, that's what we have on the rear now.
After a season of autocross and open track, the fronts are shot but the rears are less than 3/4 worn.

The rear is the problem area on our 73, we have 1 deg neg camber which tilts the top in enough, no rub there.

I plan on dinging in the panel just a bit for 1/2" more room when we try the 275's.

I have 255/45/17 on the front, usually. They fit with NO rubbing. I believe they are about 25.5" diameter. Wheel offset will make a huge difference. I have 17x8 with 5" back space, which is probably why the 17's dont rub. A 275 0n the front would be sweet thought. On a nose heavy car the front tires will always wear first, the beauty of having all four tires the same is rotation! You will get much more wear.

We can't get Kumho V710 autocross tires in a 255/17, They make a 245, 275, and 295. We'd love to fit the 295's on the rear but it's looking really really tight. We use a rear 285 40 17 for street use in the Ecsta MX, but they don't make that size in the V710.
