I have some pulleys drawn up (crank pulley and waterpump) and I am looking for a place that can make a run of them. they need to be CNC machined and I have 3D cad models of the parts (inventor 7.0 can be exported as an IGES file and can import into autocad if needed) I am looking for about 20 pairs of pulleys to be made. I live in a poor area so there is no local job shop (my engine machining even has to be sent out) so basicly I am looking for a place I can email my files to and get them machined and mailed back to me. I would like a place I can work with to save on some of the programming costs.
so are there any members that have had this done or do this kind of work?
the crank pulley does require a keyway to be broached in it.

You might wana check a local university. The kinds might try it for a Sr. project or club project or someone might just use the schools machines and do it on their own time.
Pullies are a bit tricky though because of the ribs for the belt.

I went to the only local university...no go. they have noone that can CNC parts. as they do it all by manual machining still. I might try the local comm college and see what I can get from them maybe.

Are they for some special application like how some engines don't have aftermarket pullies for them?
My family has a machine shop but we're pretty busy.

We might be able to work somethign out but I still worry about the teeth on the pullies if they'd need some kind of thread insert and how much that insert might be. I got finals till tomorrow. :geek:

Check with Jason or the other Travis on the Formula team, I think the oil pan for the car was CNC'd, or if nothing else I bet one of those would know who to get ahold of for a job like that.

I thought all you travis's were graduated now? I heard Jason was taking off for that job at Sunnen so I figured all those guys were out of town now.

Yeah we all walked last weekend, I assumed you had their numbers. I don't know if Jason took that offer from Sunnen or not, Travis got an offer as well but he wasn't sure if he was going to take it or not last time I talked to him, he had a couple of other better paying offers he was thinking about. I'm pretty sure I'm heading to WA to take a job with Boeing myself. You got anything lined up yet?

Yeah Everett is where I'd be at. How's he like it out there?

he hates it. rains for like 8 months out of the year and rent is $$$
plus he spent the whole summer (about 3 months) flying back and forth from long beach every week (home on weekends only)
the good thing is he racked up enough frequent flyer miles to get home for the holidays for nearly free I think.

That does sound fun. What's he do for them? I seem to get about a 50/50 distribution of people who respond that love it/hate it, though a lot of it is weather related it seems.

he works in cargo as an ME
well he was just mad mainly because he moved there in Nov last year when the rainy season started and once the nice summer weather came he was in LA all the time (hot and sunny) and by the time he got back to living in seattle area full time it was back to rain so he basicly missed it all.
