      Aftermarket Steering Column Question

I am about to pull the trigger on an aftermarket (Ididit or Flaming River) steering column for the OLC Camaro and was wondering if anyone had any advice from their own experience. I see that the standard length is 33" while Flaming River offers a 32" version as well (and I assume Ididit can do the same).

What have people used and what, if anything, would you differently?

      Thanks
      James

James, Both company's make a great product. You cant go wrong with either one.We stock Flaming River Here and use them the most. They make a replacement column for the Camaros.

I haven't seen any of the aftermarket pieces in person, but I have a question. Do they mount to the floor in the same way that the stock units do? Do they come with the mount plate, or do you need to use the one from a stock column?

Any pictures or links to pics would be great!

      Thanx.

      Aftermarket Column

Check out Ididit. They have a retrofit series that uses all the stock bracketry. I bought one for my 67' Firebird. Also, check out the GP superstore. You may still be able to order one through them and get the discount.

They are on GP. We have sold a ton of IDidIt to the Pro Touring community. They are direct bolt in. We like them better then Flaming River and I believe they are less money.

I have been using the Ididit one (specifically for 67-68 f-body) for about 5 years with no problems.

Thanks for the input everybody. Can anyone recommend a source for an ididit column and steering wheel adapter? I need to order this asap.

      Thanks again, James

      Ididit

You can call Frank at Prodigy he has them on the GPsuperstore.com
DSE sells them and I think Jeff Schwartz (815) 546-2123cell may also.

I'm personally leaning toward the Ididit retrofit column for my '69. I talk to one of the guys at the the Goodguy's Columbus show and the said they could clear powedercoat the column too. However I do like the fact that the Flaming River columns are stainless. I think for me the plug and play of the Ididit probably gets the prize.

I bought an ididit from the gp store with the ignition in it.fits like a glove and was very easy to install.just took all the factory stuff off and cleaned it real good before reinstalling.I did buy the new seal for the firewall and a new rubber boot.

      Nice column.

For you 2nd Gen F-body guys, keep in mind that these pieces DO NOT have an ignition on the column. You must fab an ignition switch, into or under the dash somewhere.

      Which is highly, disappointing!!!!
