275/40/17s on Four Corners

I know CarlC and a few others are running a 275/40/17 on all four corners on their 1st gen Camaro. I'm thinking of doing the same. The goal for my car is 80/20 street/track. I have a question for those of you running this combo:

1) How does the car behave on the street after dialing out some steering. Is it worth it for an 80% street driven car?

2) There seems to be some talk that a 275/35/18 may have fewer fitment issues. Any details on this? Would it allow for more steering?

Having been in Carl's car on city streets and Freeways, with track settings IIRC, it behaved fine. I was not driving it, but it was a blast! I will say that wider tires have slight "wandering" issues in most highways. I know mine does with 245/45/17 all around. The benefit of the added grip far outweighs the small adjustments needed (ie limited turning radius).

I did have to reduce the steering radius, but there are others who did not. It depends on the A-arms used.

There is no question, the slight amount of steering loss is worth the extra tire size for me. The car can do a three-point turn on a narrow street and park in narrow parking lot lanes.

If the 18" size envelope is similar to the 17" then it can be made to work. If it is slightly bigger it may still fit but there are no guarantees.

You can fit them, but in my case (69) it took a lot to get it down low without dialing out any steering.
