I have all I need to do the swap, but looking today when I slide the disc over the hub it looks like I wont have much of the stud left, do I need longer studs?

I assume you mean the wjeel studs? If so, I go by the track rules that there needs top be a few threads sticking out of an open lug nut when installed.

You will definitely want longer studs, I have used 12mm studs on my 67 firebird drum to disc conversion, it works and fits well so far.

If you used drum hubs you need to turn down the outside edge of the hub so the rotor goes up tight to the hub.

So I have to remove the hub, remove the studs and have it turned on a lathe?

I turned on a ordinary brake lathe that I machine rotors and drums in the shop.
