      firebird nose

Can you put a 68 firebird nose on a 69? I really like the 69 body and the 67-68 nose.

Not gonna fit right. The 69 is wider that 67 or 68. The fenders are styled differently so the 69 doors wont match the 67-8 fenders. If you look at the front of each car the differences will be apparent. The biggest hurdle is making the 67-8 bumper fit a wider body, and still look right.

Are the 69's wider at the fenders? Can you fit wider tires under them?

I believe some of the TA racers had to run the earlier nose until the '69 front was approved. If you look for some old racing pictures you will see what the car would look like. The feature line between the belt line and rocker would need to be blended at the nose for sure.

Yes wider tires/wheels will fit, must measure carefully since a 40 yr old car isnt going to be perfect dimensionally at any 2 points.

I tried the same as I have a 69 that was damaged on the nose and had a nice 68 front clip, definatly the 69 has 6" wider frontal area at very front and even if you stretched the 68 grill it wouldn' line up with the way the front of the 69 fenders are shaped. I have abandoned my 69 front end sheetmetal in favor of better looking lines on the camaro. I tried several different custom grills and such but with that ugly beak on the hood there is no chance of anything looking good enough.

I'm leaning towards the 68 now. I just can't do the 69 nose even though the extra tire clearance would be nice. I may just have to fabricate some mild flares when the time comes.

Could a '69 Camaro front end work on a '69 bird?
