I have a 1969 Camaro with Global West rear leaf springs and I am trying to install Competition Engineering Slide-A-Link bars. There seems to be a problem with this combination.

I pressed in the aluminum spacer on the front sping eye. A bracket from Competition Engineering is then supposed to go around the eye and be the anchor point for the front bar. It does not slide up far enough with out hitting the spring.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have this combination? Does Cal-tec bars work with GW springs?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Phillip

You shouldn't need any sort of traction bar with the Global West springs. They are manufactured biased to the front to control wheel hop.

I knew Global West helps reduce wheel hop. I just do not know up to what point. I am putting down around 540 rear wheel horse power and would like to be able to run 1.6 - 1.7 sixty foot times.

I have not been to the track yet to see if there is a problem. I thought the slide-a-link would be good insurance and give me some adjustments off the line.

Well, I talked to Competition Engineering and they do not make a different bracket. Apparently, the Cal-tac does work with Global West springs because it has additional holes (Tony W).

FOR SALE: If anyone wants to a buy a Comptetion Engineering C2100 Slide-A-Link, please let me know. It is brand new except the aluminum spacers have been pressed into a spring before (mine). Make me an offer. The kit new from Summit was $329.95 + handling.

Thanks.
