im sure its been asked before but whats the best front disc brake set up for the $ on a 67 camaro ? im on a tight budget right now ??!! i cant afford a complete baer set up at this time ? but im wanting front disc ?thanks

I'm in your same boat with budget brakes (and suspension). I dropped by Matt's Classic Bowties in Concord, CA this past Saturday and got great help from them with my decision (I talked with Kim). Their website www.mattsclassicbowties.com is kind of poorly maintained, but they have a great showroom and do all the resto and pro-touring brands. They have the brake and susp. kits I'm looking for, so I'm gunna bite.

Just saw this, so my post is late but I believe relevant. I built my own system using c4 corvette 13" rotors, ls1 front calipers, modified the front drum hubs, Speedtech caliper mounts. It fits like a charm and saved a lot of money. I havent seen any kit approaching the price I paid for all the parts that I needed to install and plumb these brakes. It may not be as good as some but I like to see my sweat equity in my projects.

I basically did this using LS-1 4th gen brakes, it really is pretty straight forward. Looking on e-bay there a couple of sets under $200. Even if you buy all of the parts new or rebuilt, you can still do it for less than $500.

I will be selling my drum spindles with speed tech brackets, 13" C5 rotors and a used set of gen 4 camaro calipers as soon as my AFX spindles arrive---maybe 3 weeks from now. If you might be interested let me know and we can work out a deal. I just installed the things this past summer and never even drove the car!

Dave Pozzi's setup works very well, and is dirt cheap if you have the resources to do it yourself or have a friend with a shop help. I did my car, ProBell's, and am helping with one other one now.

If not Kore3's or Touring Classics brackets help you achieve the same goals and the C5 calipers are a bit better (larger pistons and more rigid). -Dan

Another vote for Touring classics. They are a great kit fo rthe price.
