Master Cylinder question
I have read a few things about running a master cylinder off a 1988 s10 and I like this idea because I like the new plastic look. The problem is I went and bought today and do they make one that you can use the stock rod on or do you have to do something else to make it work. I am running C5 brakes up front and I want to keep the car as a Manual brake setup
Thanks

Any ideas ?
10-13-2006 #3Does the MC piston have a deep hole, or a shallow cone-type hole? Manual brakes usually had the deeper hole and the power brakes had a shallow hole with a retainer that kept the pushrod from falling out. I'm not sure what your application is but if you currently have a manual setup, you might have to make some adjustments or use a different master cylinder. To my knowledge, the S10 MC you're probably refering to is a power application (Raybestos MC390257?). I'm swapping from a power brake setup to a manual using a lightweight Mopar master (Raybestos MC39178) with the black plastic reservoir and the twist-off caps (looks much nicer than the yellowy plastic chevy reservoirs), but I had to fab up my own adjustable pushrod.
