Aftermarket/Rebuilt steering boxes - What brand is best?

My '70 Nova has the factory stock manual steering box, which I'm looking to replace with a more performance oriented unit. I'm not looking for an all-out race box, but one that will improve the current handing as well as compliment my soon-to-be-installed Hotchkis TVS suspension.

I'm not against using a rebuilt stock box which would probably be cheaper than a aftermarket replacement box.

      Options? Opinions? Vendors? Pricing?

      Thanks,
      Dan

Dan, I contacted Lee manufacturing in southern Ca., they rebuilt my 67 camaro manual steering box with a quick ratio. Nice customer service. Before I could get the car running, I decided to switch to power steering. I Still have the box, if interested email me at mdprovee @aol.com

Dan, Lee powersteering would be my first choice. Price is approx 375. You also have AGR. Price approx 350. Or DSEs 600 series box. Price 500. Also, you could go to the junk yard and locate 3rd gen Z28 and grab that box. Price is the best deal you can make.

I would go with the Lee box. www.leepowersteering.com

      Okay- flame suit on.
I got my quick ratio box from NAPA for $185 with core. Might want to check into it before you spend $300 more....

Dan- there doesn't seem to be one listed for your specific car but youmay want to research interchangability.....

Here's the one I got. Normally the box is 3.75-4.25 turns "lock to lock" (I use the term loosely), they offer one that is 2.5-3 which is what I got. I believe it's just a rebuilt saginaw. Mines a nice piece....
