Unless you are running the "FAT LIP" design you should be fine. The real issue is the spokes clearing the caliper face. Wilwood does offer a template for checking this.

This will be my third car I've run them on.. never had an issue either on the street or the track. They work well. Get the new quiet pads for the street and you can swap to track pads for track days. I think the new street pads are called BP-20..

Anyone have one of these templates? Frank?
I called them and the Tech-sup guy either didn't know what I was talking about or didn't have time for me.

the diagram is in the instruction sheet for the specific brake kit. I simply emailed that to the wheel company to have them verify their wheel will work. I at least have it in writing from them that it will. Whether or not that helps me if it dont, we'll see.

Call Willwood and ask them what the caliper offset is on your new set up, as well as the O.D. Caliper offset is the distance the caliper hangs over the mounting surface of the wheel. Willwood should have this information readily available. I use to call all the time for my customers without a problem. While I was at Budnik, we defaulted alot of wheels to a 1" mounting surface pad, meaning you would have clearance up to 1" of caliper offset. In most Willwood set-ups, this is more than enough. You should be fine, but if you want to be absolutely certain, that is the way to go about it. If you want, there is a serial number engraved on the back mounting pad of your budnik wheel. Call Jason Jeffrey at Budnik and have him run the number for you, and he can tell you how much pad clearance is built into the back of your wheel, and if the 17" std lip rim will clear your overall diameter. And tell Budnik I say hi.

Perfect example. According to this template, there is 1.27" of caliper offset. In this case, if I were building the wheel, it would include a 1.50" mounting pad so that the back of the spokes would clear the face of the caliper. Definitely call Budnik and confirm the mounting pad on your wheel, I have a strong feeling the pad is not long enough and the budnik will not work. (This is assuming you have the same kit as "Rubes".

I think a template would be something some could cut out and use for mock up. We make templates everyday for all kinds of things. Diagrams are available for all Wilwood kits. But no templates that I am aware of.

Anyway, if you tell me what application you have and what wheel you are considering, I can tell you what works. Two of the cars in our shop today are using 13" Wilwood set ups. One is 140-7019 (Camaro hub 13" 6 piston 13" set up) and the other is 140-8032 (C5 Corvette hub, 6 piston, 13" set up) and both cars are running 17s. Wilwood designed the Superlight calipers to be compact. There is hardly ever any spoke clearance issues. And as long as the valve stem is in front or a flush type, there "generally" is no clearance problems.

As you can see in the drawing, the wheel only need be a tick more then 15" ID to clear the outer caliper, and most 17s are more then 15" ID. Depending on which brake set up you use, I would want a wheel with 1.3875 or so for spoke clearance. That should be no problem.

He has a 17" Budnik, I think that was clear in the first post. Template or diagram, you say tomato... bickering over termanology doesn't help him. Fact remains his budnik is probably not built to clear his caliper offset and I gave him the info and he needs to call budnik and make sure.

      Jon,

Excuse me, but I was answering Damn True who asked me a question and did not say what wheels or brake kit he has.
      LOL!

      That is number one.

Number 2 is the original poster is 6 months old and 6 months ago I answered his question. And he is running Budnics, but I am 99% certain he is refering to a 140- 7019 UPGRADE kit which only needs .75 to clear, which almost any production wheel on the planet will clear.

And I would like to appoligize if it upset you and you consider this bickering, but there is a huge difference between a template and a diagram.

      Staged67gspwr,
Run that template by Budnik with the serial number off the back of your wheel. It will be an alpha numeric number like A1234. He'll tell you if your existing Budnik wheel will clear your new brake package. Let us know how it turns out.
