Caliper Pressure?
What kind of pressure should a caliper see. 1000psi. I'm sure more the merrier right!
The 15/16" tandem Master I have from Wilwood says not to exceed 1200psi. With a 6:1 pedal ratio and 100lbs pushing the pedal. The caliper only got about 600-700psi. No stopping with the standard ceramic pads at all. In fact its down right scary! I then changed the pedal ratio to 8:1 and got 1000psi to the calipers. This help but still not what I was looking for.
I spoke to Wilwood (OH THAT HELPED) I was told I shouldn't be having a problem. Ah DUH! At any rate, they told me to try the new BP20 pads. Ok I say....Got the Pads, sanded the rotors and installed. Did a few 60-70mph stops for bedding and cooled. No help, Did a few more...No help...OK I say...Lets see what they do at a buck 20. OOooh...They stop much better up there. There is no way I can lock-up the tires at 40mph. My foot will go through the floorboard.
Is bedding that difficult with Wilwoods? Wilwood say's that they can take them of the car and bed for me...YA I'M SURE AT A PRICE!
Would the Zinc coating cause it not to bed properly?... Wilwood says no...Ron DeRaad

09-21-2006 #2In my experience, 1000PSI should work wonderfully. What calipers and rotors are you using?

09-21-2006 #3I would think 1000psi would be plenty as well. This is why i'm thinkin its gotta be zinc coating or bedding issues. The rotors don't build much heat and look polished as if no friction.
