a 285/35/18 should fit.

In case it's unclear I'm running a 20/18 combo. Rear is 255/35/20 front is 225/40/18. The post was to see if anyone had info on running an 18 x 10 wheel on the back (sorry if I was brief or unclear) for example back spacing. I know it will have to be precise as it will be a tight fit. I will most likely sell the two 20 s if I can get an 18 x 10 successfully mounted. I'm in the SF Bay Area CA. Thanks

Well "HOT OHC" is running a 17x10 w/ a 5.75" BS but I don't know all the specifics on his car although I'm 95% sure he isn't mini tubbed. You would probably have to do some trimming and nail the backspacing to fit 10's. With that being said from all the searching I've done on here it seems that every car is not the same so the best thing to do is measure your car youself to see what will fit. You can do a search on backspacing to see how to do it.

you can run an 18x10 with 5.75 inches of backspacing, as long as your fender lip is completely trimmed off or rolled.

Thanks to all who gave input. I'm still hoping for the 18x10 but others off this forum swear up and down that I will have problems and a 18x9 is my best bet. Unfortunately the good people at American racing go from 18x8 straight to 18x10. I think this might be a sign from above that it is time to step on up to a quality wheel (TT2's are quite crappy for the most part).

well all im saying is that you can do it. s long as your fenders are trimmed or rolled you WILL be fine with 10 inch wide wheels.

Drewhelm on this board fit 18x10's in the rear of his 69. I believe he was right at a 6" backspacing and ran a 295 tire.

You'll need to measure yours to be sure as every car is different, but you should be able to do it. Might have to trip the inner finder lip, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

True, but doesn't the body lines on a '69 allow for a little more clearance?

That's the same issue I have with my 65 GTO...18x8 TTs classics all around and the step up is 18x10. That would be very tight on a 64-65 A-body too.

I'm not sure on that one.

Depending on how low the car is I would almost assume that the 67 and 68 cars might have more room as the wheel doesn't get tucked inside.

There is another member OHC Bird, or something along those lines that is also running an 18x10 on his bird which is a 67/68 car.

You might wanna check out this thread: https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10840

I know it's a Camaro, not a Firebird, but you still might find some of the info in there useful.

Tripower, if you don't mind me asking, where in SoCal do you live?

I've had my 65 Tempest (GTO clone) for 20 years and could use some inspiration.:offtopic:

Thanks. By the way, I'm in West L.A.
