88' s-10 brake upgrade/new to site
Hi, i'm new to the site and you guys seem more serious and hardcore about...well going fast and stopping..and cornering than anyone, and more knowledgeable than any of the yuppies at the s-10 forums but what are some fairly easy(or not) bolt on parts that i can put on my s-10's brakes, they are about shot, they are also manual, does anyone run manual brakes with a proportioning valve and do you get the results you wanted? i saw someone from here had the ls1 stuff on ebay for sale and was considering it as a upgrade to my front discs(rear are drums), what all parts would i need to replace/fabricate, any insight would be awesome, hopefully theirs some s-10 owners out their, thanks

Both baer and SSBC offer front/rear complete up big brake up-grade kits for s10. I think that wilwood also has one too. I am running rear 94-96 Impala SS disc brakes on my truck. The easiest/cheapest swap right now is the 98-02 LS1 Camaro rear disc. They bolt right up other than fabing up the parking brake cable. As for the front I believe that Ed Miller is making a kit to convert the fronts to sealed hubed C5 brakes which require the 2wd blazer spindle. I have link to Ed Miller's website but its not finished yet. If you are member of s-seriesforum.com there is a whole write up on Ed Miller's front kit.

09-16-2006 #3I had MAJOR problems with the SSBC Force 10 twin piston calipers. SSBC actually told me to take them off and return them and said they were not going to offer them anymore. I actually went back to stock and they work pretty well. I am using a stock manual master with stock calipers/rotors up front with Ford 11X2 drums in the back with a wilwood adjustable prop valve. Most S-10 systems are modified G-body kits and don't always work out so well. So do your homework before buying.
