Just a few quick questions. I am about to purchase my gauges for my 67. I am going to run the 5 inch speedo and tach in the original housing. I am looking for a pod for four gauges. Fuel, oil and water temp and volts. Should I fab my own or does anyone besides covans make them. I do not want to mess with the radio or heater controls. Also should I run mechanical or electric. I have a 454 carbed big block.

Try using the 68/9 Camaro console with the 4 gauge pod from autometer. That's what I'm going to use on my 67 'Bird....

2-1/16" gauges. Says for camaro, will it fit firebird also?

That gauge pod will fit with a stock 68-69 Camaro console. It might fit a firebird or a 67 but will not be a bolt on. It is made of ABS so it is not easy to change to fit a different console.

my car has a custom fabbed one.. sorta "race car" looking.. oh wait, it used to be a race car.. lol
Covans is the only one I've seen and it looks pretty nice.
BTW.. I will have all my old guages for sale soon, including a 5" tach, speedo (mech) mounted in a factory housing :) -- Autometer Sport Comps

I plan on using either small leds or bulbs. There are several hot rod sites that carry indicator lights for making custom dash lights. I'll try and remember to post a cpl here tonight when I get home. There are several options. Just depends on how creating you want to be and how much $$ you want to spend.
That said here's my plan for what I will be running when my project is finished.
Autometer 5" tach and speedo in stock dash housing. Will replace high beam indicator with a small blue light from rod site mentioned above. WIll do the same with turn signal indicators and brake light in red and green. Haven't decided on exact location of turn signal and brake light yet.
Center dash console will have a Covan 4 gauge pod with 2 5/8" gauges for Oil pressure, water temp, fuel level, and voltage. Under each gauge I will have a red warning light tied to the stock sensor for water, oil, and volts. I will also have an amber light below the fuel level gauge connected to a low fuel warning module I recently found.
Center floor console will be from a 68/9 camaro with the 4 2 1/16" gauge pod from Autometer. This will house fuel pressure, oil temp, trans temp, and either a clock or amp gauge. All of the stock sensors will be retained as a backup to the gauges. Will obviously need to create a custom harness to connect to the stock harness but have already started a rough design. If all goes well this should be finished by thanksgiving so I can try and start my car over christmas break. I'll post pics as this progresses.

some links to those hot rods sites would be great... I have been looking around, and i dont really want to just run some led to show the indicators etc.

I thought I had more. But this one is pretty good. Look in the lighting section.

Nice. Very similar to what I plan to do. These are pics sent to me by another car owner.

I saw an Autometer gauge pod in a 69 camaro this weekend. It now makes sense why it won't directly fit a firebird or 67 camaro.

Exactly. This is why I am switching to the 68/9 Camaro console in my 67 'Bird.
