I was wondering which body mounts to use with my 2nd gen F-body.
Got my TKO 600 installed, everything works great, but now I am noticing that I can feel major frame flex through the clutch pedal with my foot. It actually moves the pedal 1/2-1" upward as I travel over speed bumps, etc. I have manual linkage, bolted to a bracket on the subframe.
When I had my wife push the pedal while I watched under the hood, I was shocked at how much the linkage pulls the subframe forward and to the right. It's like the linkage is trying to separate the subframe from the body.
Someone in the manual trans section was astute enough to point out that this is probably due to old crappy body bushing mounts, which makes sense.
So, if I go with polyurethane body bushings, will it fix this problem? I have a stiff suspension and I want it to handle to the max. So I am thinking the poly or even aluminum bushings. The stock rubber mounts are garbage and need to be replaced anyhow.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
