This message was also posted as a reply to another thread in the interior forum.

Thought it might be time to chime in and clarify a few things. Sorry if it gets lengthy. First, if you are looking for an FIA approved racing seat it is correct you do not want our seat. In fact, I do not believe you can use any RECLINABLE seat since none I am aware of are FIA approved. Many track event though do not require FIA approved seats, harnesses, bars, etc.

There are many knock-off seats out there but unless you disassemble them and see the - thickness of the steel used, quality, composition and density of the foam, type of recline mechanism used and other factors - it would be impossible to compare them. Whenever we find a better component we can easily change - we change it. Some also lack features - quick-tilt seatback forward, dual-locking sliders, lumbar support, etc. We have designed our seat specifically so the cushions remove (most do not on the back) so that features like heaters, 2-tone inserts and others can be easily added now or in the future. Many overseas seat factories are aware of us and have sent us rediculously low prices trying to sell us their seats but we are not interested. But if you do not need all our features or care if the company selling you the seat knows anything about the product at all ( I mean under the cover) then you could probably live with many cheaper seats out there.

To save space I put together some information for the Pro-Touring guys here - http://www.arizenracingsports.com/suspension.htm. I look forward to talking with members as time goes by.

Just wanted to post an update. We were originally given 10/20 as an ETA to NY for components we are waiting for but were notified of a delay of about 10 days. As soon as we have everything needed to start producing seats again we will post it. As a reminder we can produce seats with a reproduction houndstooth inserts if needed. Thank you for your patience!

I am loving the lower seat and new suspension design. Can you guess why I am so jazzed? I was considering you guys for a while, and now the decision may be made.

Our cloth and vinyl seats and componenets to make leather seats have arrived to NY. The terminal is so overloaded right now they cannot give us a location to have a truck pick them up yet. Any day now they should clear a way for the trucking company to access them and make the 3 hour drive to us. We should hopefully begin shipping seats next week that do not require any customizing. The seats listed below should all be available to ship immediately except black leather (we must make and install cover). The grey cloth color is a lighter grey as shown below. We cannot make rear covers in matching cloths because we have never located a similar cloth through any of our US vendors. Look at the black vinyl or cloth shorter bolster seats to determine what the red or blue shorter bolster cloth seat will look like until we take pictures.

We should receive our shipment tomorrow. We are offering free flat mounting plates with black vinyl seat purchases with choice of black or red stitching. This special will be available online for a limited time.

Is it possible to do Blue stitching? Also, I see the dimensions on your site but would like to know the inside dimensions between the seat bolsters.

arizen

I will post more dimensions tomorrow. We cannot do any other color stitching at this price. The vinyl seats we will have tomorrow are coming complete with covers and we only have black or red stitching arriving. The lower bolster seat only has black stitching. We can make new covers with blue stitching but it would require reuphoplstery.

I have a vert that sits outside at work. How fade resistant is the black cloth? I have a set of 4th gen rear seats to put in. Will there ever be cloth available? I'm tossed between gray and black cloth.

I honestly can't answer the question about "fade resistence" on the black cloth. We have never sold this cloth before although we've had samples for years. We can't make rear covers unless a supplier starts selling the same material. We can of course make complete interiors in any cloth available in the US including any OEM cloths but pricing would be higher and dependent on the cost per yard.

I was getting ready to order another brand of seats for my Monte but now I may hold off. Are you seats available bare? Whatever seats I get will need to be recovered to match my current interior. What about patterns for the covering?

The best thing to do is buy the least expensive covered seat and use a cover for the template. I could see what is the best price I can do delivered on red or blue cloth seats delivered if you provide your zip code.

I could get the black vinyl seats to you for $558. The vinyl seats we have now came with an imported cover that has less "grain" in it than we normally use for our custom upholstered seats. It is a little smoother and has a higher sheen than "simulated leather" vinyls.

Price sounds good, I'll also need a set of bases for an 86 Monte SS. Did you ever produce the seat with the side bolsters mid way between the tall ones and the low ones?

John,

We made a set of seats with a bottom that was widened 1" by angling the bolsters more. I have had a number of people sit in them with up to 42" waists and everybody seemed to like them. These were people used to sport seats with tall bolsters however. I will take pictures of different size people sitting in the seats soon!

We will now be making all seats to order according to customer requests. You will be able to choose between bottom widths, seat back bolster depths, with or without harness slot and material choice. If we are going to own the name "customracingseats.com" we feel we should better live up to it. We do import our injected molded foam so at this time we cannot offer a completely different style seat but may in the future as we see the demand. We are in the process of updating the website to reflect our new features and ordering system and information to help customers decide what they would prefer in the seat design. I would be glad to help you personally if you have not read enough of our recent posts to know the differences in our bottom widths, back bolster designs, etc.

We are still working on redesigning a lower bottom bolster. I hope to know more within a few weeks.

Suede colors are shown here:
http://www.arizenracingsports.com/images/Suedezkin.jpg

Suedezkin is a suede similar to Alcantara. There are many "microfiber" suedes that are less expensive but they have much more "movement" to them - the color shifts much more easily. If that is not an issue for you there are other tans available.

My office is in Uncasville, CT. The upholstery factory is in MA.

Still interested in a price quote per my original request... even if it's with normal side bolsters, or have you made any progress with the medium/low bolsters?

Unfortunately, we have not. We contacted both companies that make CNC cut foam and injected molded foam for quotes but have not received replies. I am beginning to think that making only the bottom bolsters is too small a job for them to be interested in. We will keep investigating.

If you let me know your preferences from the page below and if a rear cover is desired I will get a quote.

The seat that likely fits the largest waists is the RS series but it is hard to rate what is comfortable for someone else.
