Closeout raising temp
I'm not sure if this thread should go here or in the coolling section. Here is my question. Has anyone put a closeout panel on a 69 Camaro to cover radiator and their car start running warmer than before? I put one on and my is running a tad warmer than before. This is my first summer with car on road with closeout panel. Is anyone else experienced this problem?

Actually I would have expected just the opposite as the closeout should force more air through the radiator.

Where's the temp reading coming from? Do you have the air-conditioner blockouts also installed? You might have altered the air flow passed where the sensor is at. Might you have cut down any minor surface cooling that was happening? It would be interesting to know the water temp exiting the radiator with and with out the closeout (But the thermostat might over compensate for that). I don't have a close out and am still rebuilding mine, but have been looking at the air flow with much interest. Let us know if you find the answer.

08-29-2006 #8I have been having a problem with getting warm 200-210 going down the road at cruising speed and will cool off at idle 185-190. Going to move trans cooler. I have a set of Spal 11'' fans with a Griffin radiator and an Edelbrocck pump. Running a 454 with Dart 310 heads and temp sensor is located in the intake by thermostat. This should probably go to the cooling section. Anyway thanks for the answers on the closeout.
