Is there a motorized mirror kit for the camaro bullet style mirror?

The '82 Special edition Corvettes had a bullet mirror with electric adjustment, but good luck finding any. Oh and if you do, just wait until you see the price!

I am modifying mirror motors from a fox-body mustang to work in the bullet mirrors for my 442. It's taken 3 trys, but I think I have it right this time. I'm not sure why I think electric mirrors are so important, but then again, I also decided I needed cornering lights. Go figure!

There isn't much that will really fit, those bullet mirror heads are pretty small. I had to trim the mustang mechanism to get it to fit. I chose the mustang (also ised in the T-Bird mirror) mechanism because it is self contained. I think the GM units are two seperate motors mounted seperately in the mirror head.

Also, what mirrors shake? What does this mean?

The manually adjustable mirror on my 77 shakes at speed – the glass, not the housing. I assume the pivot mechanism is worn. By many accounts, they all do this after a while.

Anyway you look at it, those mirrors are too damn small…

Ahh, Now I understand! They are a little on the small side. Funny, GM used them well into the '80s too. Still, I didn't want a bigger more modern mirror, I don't think it would have fit with the style of car I am building. Besides, as an avid motorcyclist, I am very used to the "quick head turn" style of lane checking. Just don't try this in a Miata (my wife has one) with the windows up... We laughed about me whacking my head on the window for about 10 miles!

i emailed modo inovations about this. ( he thought it was a good idea) hes local so ill go see him about this. the red 69 body installed over the 4th gen everything else had them.(forgot who did that, but it was in one of the car mags)
