OK, I'm tired of trying to make my present 355 short block work with this cam. That is, no exhaust valve clearance to pistons. So i've decided to just build a 383 with what I want in it. Right now the problem is the valve reliefs in these Speed Pro forged pistons (flat 4 valve relief) aren't deep enough.
I've got another block and I'm going to go with an Eagle rotating assembly (probably not the forged).
I was thinking maybe the SRP pistons. Any suggestions? I want good pistons but I'm trying to keep costs down.
I ran over a set of speedpros with a piston mic, then weighed each of them to .1 gram and I will never buy a set again. I have SRP's in my 455 and find them a great balance between price, accuracy and weight.

Try weisco pistons they are good forged pistons and not alot of money. I have them in my 388 stroker.

The Eagle Specialty Products rotating assemblies are decent and they are less expensive then a Compstar or Lunati package. For the extra couple of bucks I would go with the forged crankshaft over the cast, and the SRP pistons over the Speed Pros.

srp's are a good choice
I'd go with a Diamond, perhaps having them plunge cut the valve pockets on a shelf piston might be a good idea. That way you have a little extra real estate.
What is the piston/deck clearance on the build, what size is the camshaft? How much intake clearance do you get?
