Guys, I need some advice. We bought a '99 suburban last fall and I'm staring to experience some electrical gremlins.

I never fully got this issue reolved, but did find that a remote start/alarm system had been inststalled by a previous owner.

The other day the engine would just not start. The battery was replaced just a few months ago. There wa a 'click' sound as if the starter solenoid was activating, but no cranking of the starter. I dropped the starter and had it tested-it was good. Teh click I heard must have been the starter relay in the fuse box? It seems now that no power was getting to the solenoid-just a guess.

At this point, I decided that it was time to remove the alarm system to see if that was the culprit. Especially since I thought it may have been contributing to my previous problem.

The original factory wiring had been spliced in what I would call a 'T' fashion-they stripped about 1/4" of insulation and wrapped the new alarm/remote start wire around the factory wire. So I disconnected all of those connections. Went to hook the battery back up and the starer strated cranking immediately, the key wasn't even in the ignition!!:scared:

At this point, I still have the no start problem and my dash is torn apart! I have checked and double checked that the factory wiring under the dash is still intact. Do I need to go back to square one and try replacing the battery cables? What about the starter relay in the underhood fuse box? I feel that I may have gotten in over my head here!! Help??

Can someone provide a link to a good wiring diagram at least? The crappy Hanes book is all I have...

The Starter relay may be shorted... It's located in the fuse box on left inner fender....

Hey, thanks for the reply. It turned out that the starter solenoid was bad afterall.
