Anyone here run a 5" tach in a Covans dash?

This would be the type for a '67-'68 Camaro..

I want to run a 5" tach, 3 3/8 speedo, 2" digi shift light and 2 1/16 oil pressure gauges in my new Covans dash. I could swear I saw it done but it doesn't look like there's enough real estate..

      Anyone??

      Steve,
      I have a pic with a 5" tach and a 5" speedo. I don't know if it helps.
I took this at the 2004 Power Tour in Arlington, TX.
This car is in need of some pedal covers as well as a electric trunk latch kit.LOL

lol.. everyone needs the pedal covers and elec trunk latch. Hell, since I fill gas from my open trunk it would even be good on Penny.

Thanks for the pic. I want to run a 5" tack, 3 3/8 speedo, and two 2 1/16 guages (shiftlight, oil pressure) Doesn't look like there would be room for all of that. At least it gives me a hint.

Hey, here's a product that NEEDS to be made.. vinal cling stickers of various (total size with bezel) guage sizes. This way it would be easy to figure out how it will all be laid out. I gave this idea to Stewart Warner and they were like "hey!, that would be great".. looks like I am going to buy a compass today and make some circles.

      It should work...

I think it will work. I made a layout in Corel Draw when I did my Covan dash with the 5" speedo and tach. If you put the tach on the right, the 3.375" speedo left, and the two 2.0625" guages below and left, I think it will all fit. I will atach 2 different designs.

Bear in mind, these are rough and I do not have my Covan dash to verify, but I do think it can work. I plotted my layout in Corel, printed it, and glued it on the back as a pattern, it came out great.

Steve I had the same problem laying my guages out. I just printed out pictures of the guages I copied from the autometer site but zoomed or reduced to size.

That is an awesome idea- you get to see what it will actually look like. Very nice- will file that one away in my noggin for future use.

I have a few pics I'll post later that shows two diferent ways to mount 5" gauges in the stock dash. One makes it look more stock and another is like the pic above. As for a shift light have you given any thought to putting one in the cig lighter hole ?? This is what I'm planning on doing. Haven't really picked the right light yet but have seen it done on other cars. The hole is about an inch in diameter so some of the new mini shift lights might fit. Just a thought.
