68 Camaro rear deck filler panel replacement

I pulled the rear window from my 68 Camaro the other day and found the usual Chevy muscle car rust along the rear panel between the window and trunk. Classic Industries calls this the "Upper rear outer body panel". Since it's only @ $80.00, it seems to me to be almost as easy to replace the entire panel than cut and repair/replace three quarters of the window channel on this panel. But since I've never done it before, how hard is it? Has anyone done this before? What should I look for, what should I avoid. I'm not the best bodyman, but between me and some friends, I think it may be something that could be done in the garage. What do you think? Thanks in advance for the advice, TZ.

I have a 69 Camaro, that HAD a vynal top. Sounds like same problem. I already ordered a replacement panel. I don't know what it will cost to put in, anyone know ruff shop hours to install? Is there a site with panel replacement estimate times? I also have the rear tail light panel that I'm thinking of replacing. Thanx

      I just finished the filler panel on my '68. I got the part from Rick's 1st Gen...Part # PP138.

Install was fairly straight-forward. No real suprises. Some of the spot welds were a pain to get to.

I would recommend getting the one that has the area that folds over into the interior. Less cutting that way. Mine was a piece of cake compared to other things Ive done. I wouldnt hesitate to do it again. Just spend lots of time fitting before any final welds. Best of luck!
