3-3.5 inches is a BIG drop on an A-body, nothing I'd want to drive on the street. I just installed Eibach springs, and although my motor is still on the stand, a 1.5-2" drop is quite noticeable.

Now the front of the A-bodies does tend to sit higher than the back from the factory, so a little more drop to the front might be in order. If you want to go real low, and level the front out, you could install drop spindles up front and lowering springs all around (cut yours, Eibach, Hotchkis, or custom). I'm not a big fan of the 2" drop spindles, at least those I've seen on Camaros...too low for my taste. I had one friend remove them because the car was just too low to drive.

The other thing you could do to get the lowered look is install thinner body mounts, which would lower the body on the frame just a little. I know I've seen them somewhere, maybe eBay? That would give you a slightly lower look without compromising ride height.

What size front tires will you be running? The tire to inner-fender clearance will be the limiting factor, unless you have very low hanging exhaust.

If you decide to go with drop spindles, Heidts makes the best one for a Chevelle, since it also adds 1.5" to the height of the spindle, putting the camber curve in a more favorable position.

in the front i was looking to run a 235-45 or 40-17 or maybe even a 245. and out back a 275-45or40-17 (fender lips are rolled) should i get the car lowered then order the rims or order rims then lower the car to the hight i want?

also i went to the site and they dont have any thing for chevelles its camaros,55-57 chevy and novas, classic trucks and mustangs didnt see anything for chevelle

I'd get the wheels first, but you'll want to know for sure what spindle you're going to use before you order the wheels, since some spindles change the track-width.

Check in the Wheels & Tires section at Team Chevelle to find out what backspacing you'll need for a '65. I think a 275 is as wide as you can go in the rear, but you may be able to get more than a 245 in front.

If you want to play in the "very low" range, you may want to go with the 5"x9.5" dirt-track springs with height adjusters, so that you don't have to order springs more than once to get it "right".
