13" rear discs from the factory?

Did any manufacturer offer 13" rear discs stock? If so, who, what, where, & when?

Not 100% positive, but I think the New Z06 Vette has 14" in frt & 13 in the rear with 4 or 6 pistons up front & 2 in the back. Also I think there is a Cadillac CTS that has 14" frt & 13" rear. I am a GM guy so I don't know of any other brands, maybe the Viper?

Yeah the 'new' Z06 has 13.4" cross-drilled rear rotors & 14" fronts. I was wondering if there was anything that used a 13" solid rotor?

That was only in the front. The rears were still 12".

Not a stock setup per se, but Baer offers a 13" solid rotor for 94-04 Mustang GT's which uses the stock caliper. It is an eradispeed kit with rotors and brackets. Just a possibility.

solid meaning not drilled and slotted or solid meaning not vented, and if the latter why on earth would you want a solid rotor?!

Could you elaborate on this? Would it use the stock calipers but front rotors instead of rears?

You can put almost anything on the rear, if you have the right caliper, a custom bracket, and a way of making a parking brake function.

Most OE rear calipers with the park brake mechanism aren't built to accommodate the width of a typical large diameter front rotor. For example, the C4 13" fronts have a nominal thickness of 1.10", and the 12'" rears are 0.787".

So unless you can find an OE application rear caliper that's made for a very thick rotor, you end up with the options of a pinion mount park brake, or separate aftermarket park brake caliper used in conjunction with a regular caliper made for a wider rotor, even a front. Or, the other choice would be a rotor and axle combo that allows the use of an internal drum style park brake.

      Two things,

Solid rotor implies that its solid (non vented) you just want a plain vented rotor correct?

And they actually do perform better, just eats through pads and rotors faster. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1357139

Check the trucks for rear calipers. I have a 2003 1500HD silverado & it has some pretty healthy brakes on it. The fronts are 2 piston calipers, I think the rears are too, but not 100% sure. I will check later. I have over 70K miles on it & have yet to change the brakes.

Volkswagen Touareg has 6 piston front 13 inch brakes and 4 piston 13 inch rear brakes.

They look killer and stop that 5200# beast superbly!

Duh! I just remembered I have 2 front calipers from an S10 Blazer, they are 2 piston ones that bolt on very easily. They might work, but would still have to figure out an emergency brake if using one.
