OK- So there has been a lot of 'Stang talk for cars debuting at SEMA and just thought I'd post a pic of at least one teazer pic of a GM product that will be there too (on display in the K&N booth). The 60 features our chassis, Mitchell 427" all aluminum SBC, FAST, 14" Wilwood, Michelin PSC's.

It was nice talking to you at the GGC show. Thanks for the kind words.

Is this the 3-G vette??? The one that is supposed to be in the Hot Rod "Open Track Smackdown" event???

I don't know if they will be able to wire that deal together this year. It is a shame. We were looking forward to kicking some Vette butt. :-)

I know. Maybe we should schedule the track event in conjunction with SEMA. Make it an open invatation to the show cars at SEMA and see who has the balls to come out and play.

Anyway, I digress...

Great looking car. I can't wait to see it at SEMA. What is the ground clearance on that??? Looks to be about 2".

SN65- It was great talking with you as well. Yes was the car that was going to be at the "open track smackdown" that there is no location or date for. With all the work we have done to the body and trim/bumpers we've been pushed back about 5-6 months on completion. Was supposed to be at Columbus, but from the looks of it a lot of people missed Columbus this year.......

Looking forward to seeing you guys again.

Is the Vette a kit car or an actual modified 1st gen Vette?

CraigMorrison
07-18-2006, 08:28 AM
Hey guys thanks for the comments- Bob- I'm looking forward to you seeing the finished car at SEMA.

Yes it is a stock 60 body. We bought the car as a driver about 6 years ago. New front clip and lots of repairs and modifications later and we might as well have started with an aftermarket body.

The car goes into primer on Friday..... Engine goes to dyno on the 29th to work out the program for the fuel injection.

OH man, I was lucky enough to see it in person when I was out in the big town of Fife in March. Craig, if you get time and will, post a picture or two of the headlights. No one would understand a post about them but a picture is worth a thousand words. Then again, maybe you are just holding out until SEMA to show them. In that case, I should have just stirred the hype pot quite a bit....lol.
That is just a beautiful piece all the way around and sooooooo many details that Art pulled off, just hard to describe. I will be at SEMA with my camera in hand. Too bad yall can not bring it to the event here.

SN65, yall need to be here too.

Bill- This one is for you! So can anybody guess what the headlights are out of? When I ordered them and the sales guy on the phone asked "What year is your XXXXXXX?" There was a very long pause when I told him a 1960 Corvette.

No more pics untill you guys see the cover pulled off at SEMA on Tuesday.

I'd say, but I think that would be cheating since I got to sneak a look with Bill! It's too bad that you can't make the car flip over so people could see the incredible attention to detail on the underside of the car, a mirror just won't do it justice.

CraigMorrison

Sweet! I have angle eyeheadlights on my car. I just dont have projector's like those. Mine are cheap on ebay and i love them. But be ready to have people tell you that they are dumb and dont belong on your car. I always get it, but I like them so they will stay.

Craig, looks good. Will you have it at the NATS in Louisville this year? Will Morrison have a booth there again this year?

Scot- We will have a booth at Louisville, but the car won't be there. It's pretty much going to be down to the wire with getting the car done for SEMA. There's a lot of late nights on the horizon...

Hi Craig,

Whats the outside diameter of those suckers???

wiedemab
07-19-2006, 11:59 AM
I wanted to chime in with the answer, but I would have been cheating since you told me about them at Columbus.

That thing is going to be awesome! I can't wait to see the finished product, and also what kind of numbers it will put down!

My Mom's boyfriend has a restored '62 Fuelie Vette, god knows it would be hard to make one handle/brake any worse than they did in stock form!

Later,

Brandon

Hi Craig,

Whats the outside diameter of those suckers???

5" Just like any early American car with twin headlights. HOWEVER!!!
There was a lot of modifications done to the plastic on the back of the headlights themselves to get them to fit in there. Art was taking my name in vain quite a few times when he was fabbing it all together. In all there is about 60 hours of work to get the lights to "bolt-in" to the car. As we were joking, $550 for the parts and $4000 for the labor to install.

Mean 69
07-19-2006, 02:01 PM
The guys that did the Plum Floored Super Bee used these type of lights too, and they worked their butts off modifying them to fit. I'm going to use them on the 68 Satellite, maybe others. One hint, you can buy the knock-off conversion kits on E-Bay, just do a search on "Angel Eyes," I found a kit with brand new stuff, glass lenses, etc for less than $200.

CraigMorrison

I saw that stuff on E-bay, but was a little leery about the quality and the longevity of the parts.

Awesome car Craig. You guys will deserve the attention with the detail it looks like the car is getting. I can't wait to see it at SEMA. I may also want to steal your idea of the headlights for my '65 Buick Special. Not going to be a custom, but I'm a stickler for little details.

07-19-2006, 06:26 PM
No, I didn't go to Goodguys, the PNWCC had it's show on Sunday, and for some funny reason they wanted the show chairman to be there. Our show was pretty good, Scott Settlemeir came out and brought a few cool cars with him from Chevrolet, inlcuding the Pepsi 400 Pace Z06 and the Blue and Yellow 2002 Penske Tribute Camaro. Man that thing sounds nice.

In regard to the Angel Eyes....

Are the early Vette headlight buckets configured the same as the early Mustang? SS trim ring that screws to a cupped bucket that is held in place with screws and springs?

CraigMorrison
07-20-2006, 06:58 AM
That sounds like the stock Vette bucket, but very little remained of the stock piece when it was finished.

You know, the sick thing is we just wanted to build a nice driver that was a step up in performance and quality from the GT55 project. It's amazing how projects take on a life of their own and snowball out of control!

It wouldn't happen to be the 60 Vette that Mr. Burman is bulding? Bliss sent me the pics on the car that Rodger is bulding, and I called and talked to him about the lights. I think they are going with more of the monochromatic look, while we are keeping the stock chrome bezels. Bliss was even kind enough to give me the part #'s from Bavarian Motor Works for the light kit. In return, I sent Bliss the wiring diagram for the S2000 starter button that we are both using on our cars. Very intermingled........

UPDATE-
The car went into primer today!:jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump:

Was in the booth while Jon was laying it down, and got some cool pics. WE ARE STOKED.

I never really appreciated these Vette's until now! I dismissed them as not sporty or sleek enough, but this car is amazing. The stance, wheel fitment, and overall mean appearance (bumpers/grill/headlight area) make this one of my favorites. Thanks for waking me up, can't wait to see it painted!!!

Well, we are test-firing the engine for the first time today. Mitchell aluminum 427 SBC with FAST fuel injection (total weight 355lbs). We are getting everything ready for this Saturday when we take the engine to the dyno to get the fuel injection mapped out.

Nothing beats hearing a new engine run for the first time!
