Sorry if this isn't the area to post this question... Didn't know 'cus it's not "body and paint" and it not "interior" either. :dunno:
I want to do a Wing window delete on my '65 Chevelle, has anyone done this??? Is anyone making kits for this??
I was thinking I could have a piece of flat glass cut to fit the entire area but then it wouldn't match up with the curved rear quarter glass, you know?? Do I have any options or do I just run with the wing windows in??? Thanks for the help guys.

Have you tried searching at www.chevelles.com?

If the windows were flat, this wouldn't be too hard to do. But,the fact they have some curvature makes it almost impossible. New curved/tempered windows would have to be fabbed and the cost of doing so would be outta sight. The cheapest part would be modifying the doors.

Elusive: No I haven't tried searching on that site at all. I am not familiar with it at all to be honest but I will definitely check it out. Do you know if this topic has been covered and someone came up with a solution?? Thanks for your input!!!!
USAZr1: That is exactly what I think I'm going to have to do. If i end up having to, I plan on kicking the track out a little inside the door so that the flat glass ends up seating where its supposed to at the top of the window frame. Of course that means I will have to get my rear quarter glass cut as well 'cus I can't have my front window flat and the rear curved... Thanks for your input!!!
Hmmm.... maybe I should just leave the windows alone???

I work in the largest flat glass plant in the world, PPG's Works #4. Cutting the glass in many different colors/tints is a piece of cake. The big problem is getting the curvature right at one of our fabrication plants before shipping it back to us for tempering. I've talked to some small custom glass fabricators about doing it but either they aren't interested or want a ton of money.
Rest assured though,I haven't given up on the idea.

I know it's a fiberglass car, but Year One did it with their '67 Chevy II: http://www.yearone.com/enthusiast.asp?enl=1&enlSEC=2&enlURL=http://www.yearone.com/Articles/feat1.asp?AID=40

I thought about doing the same thing in my 64 that I built. What about doing some research on other cars from the era that don't have vent windows and have the right windshield angle & curvature. I know there's a little room in the 64-5 doors for play. The brackets can be modied easiely enought. I'm not sure where you would start looking, but a tape measure and a local car show may be a good place to start.

That's not a bad idea at all!!!! :pat: Even if the window was slightly bigger then what you needed but still had close to the same curvature you could have it cut to size, right??? Probably be like trying to find a needle in a haystack but it's definitely worth a shot. Another good idea!!!

Just a FYI but tempered glass can't be trimmed. It would explode.

lol, yea. Been there, done that.. KABOOOOOM!!!!!
That was a fun clean up.
Make sure you also cut away the ENTIRE rubber clue around the rear window before you peal it back.

You could use laminate glass (like what your windshield is made of) instead of tempered, but I don't know if it can be bent. Or you could use LEXAN maybe?
A guy locally is having new laminate windows cut for his chopped roof Civic (don't ask). I'll see if I can get you some info

Thanks for the idea bro but I'm actually just looking for glass. I'm either gonna figure it out using flat glass and modifying the track inside the door to make it work or just put the wing window back in and call it good. Thanks for the suggestion though
