Fiberglass Doors

Thinking of installing fiberglass doors on my 69 maro. Obviously for weight savings, but this is going to be a street driven vehicle. How are these as far as for daily driver purposes? Or should these only be considered for racing use? Also, will they accept regular window regulators, or do you have to go to lexan windows?

I would not risk 'glass doors for anything unless there are door bars welded into your cage (no clevis setup here).

I agree on the safety issue. Any sort of hit will come right through your 'glass door. I've heard of some glass doors that claim to take normal latch and window regulators... but the weight of the actual window glass might be a bit much for them. Most say you have to use Lexan.

All glass doors I have seen are pretty much race setups. They don't weigh much but fit is marginal at best, and if they do take regulators you generally can't use production glass.

Oh and they are LOUD inside, it's like having a giant drum on either side of the car. If you sound insulate them, and spend endless hours making them fit right, it's not that much better than steel.

weight savings + less safety = bad choice in a street driven car. IMHO, of coarse.

Seems like once you got regulators and glass in and enough dynamat to make things bearable the weight savings would be negligible. Combine that with poor fit and durability, add a dash of really not too safe and you have a mix that I personally wouldn't go with.
