i was wondering if 17x9.5 with 6.5in of backspacing would work on a 72 chevelle without any modifications to the fenders. Or do you think i would need a spacer to make them work. I can special order these wheels with 5.5in BS but it might take 8 weeks to come in.

Thats alot of Backspace for that narrow of a wheel, I don't think you would like the outcome as the wheel would sit too far within the wheelwell, not to mention I'm pretty sure you'd be rubbing on the inner framerails, or close to it. Check out the wheel chart they have for refrencing wheel sizes. My suggestion is too order the wheels that are correct for your car and wait the 8 weeks. Goodluck!:jump:

I dont think that will work too well. I have a 17x11 with 5.25 inch backspacing and I think that is as close as i could get it inwards without rubbing.

Some 68-72's can handle up to 6.5" rear backspacing but some can't. Even if yours could,I'm not sure you would like the look of those 17x9.5's. Be patient and get them with 5.5" bs.

I currently have 5.5 rear & 4.5 front BS for the wheels I am selling, 17x10, 17x8. Unless you are replacing the rear end, this BS will not work, but I also agree with the earlier posts, even it they did, you would not like the look.
