I have been reading about the p/s cooler on David Pozzi's site. I'm confused about something. Which type of cooler is noisy and which type is more durable ? One is called a flat tube and the other is called a round tube. What's the difference? I think one design is like a small radiator or heater core with a flat bulkhead at each end. And the other is just round tubes with fins. Am I right ? I was going to use a small trans cooler in the p/s return line as a p/s cooler.

Where is David Pozzi's site?

I don't know if one is noisier than the other but the flat type is like a small radiator and according to Tom Lee, the flat type is more easily damaged by pump pulsations. We used a small trans cooler with round tubes. My wife ran the car at Streets Of Willow in 100 degree heat and the system stayed cool.

There is a little pump noise on my wife's car when parking but it's not bad. I've read that most remote reservoir systems are noiser than stock systems.

Thanks David ! Your knowledge and experience is priceless. Thanks for sharing. Your website is great. You always seem to give a realistic view of how to get performance results without unecessary expense or flashy " wow " parts.

I bought a transmission cooler to use as a power steering cooler.
Will it hold up ? I know that power steering pressures are higher than transmission pressures so will the increase in pressure and/ or flow cause a deterioration or leak in the trans cooler ?
Also , will trans cooler hose work to plumb the p/s cooler or should I use dedicated power steering cooler hose ?
( Obviously I'm putting on the return side )

Trans cooler hose will work.
A trans cooler is good, it doesn't have to be a huge one, ours has four passes and is 3/4" thick.

I'm not interested in overly flashy parts, just getting the job done. I guess it comes from my early years, - not being able to afford flashy parts.

Me too David. I want to drive this car a lot . I can't justify dumping huge quantities of money for parts that aren't 100 % necessary.
There is someone here on the site that has a slogan at the bottom of there posts that says something about huge wheels and huge brakes not impressing them ,but quick lap times do.

I have one in my car came with my LS1 engine as in WS6 Trans Am. It is inline with the upper radiator hose.

The guy who built my PS pump said I really won't need a cooler since he builds his to run cool from the start.

I was going to run that and an oil cooler, I sill might run the oil cooler depending on how my temps end up running.

I wonder where you could plumb in a guage to track PS fluid temps? I imagine you could use an oil or trans temp gauge.
