Opinions on next step

I'm finishing up with my brake and suspension mods. I was planning on doing the motor and tranny next, but with amount of rust I came across I wanted to get the paint and body done next instead.

Here's what I was thinking. I'm not sure about the condition of the body, but I figured I'd blast it, take it to a body shop so they could get a good look and provide me with a good estimate and then have it primered.

Does this seem like a logical thing to do? Unlesss I win the lotto I can't get everything done as soon as I'd like. So the car is my daily driver and will be unpainted/primered until I get the cash to get the body and paint done.

I've seen the threads on epoxy vs etch primer. Which would fair best in the elements? I'm in Florida so it would under constant sun with soon to be daily rains.

I don't think i would blast it until your ready to just do it all.When you blast you should remove everything including the glass.Do your motor and trans first until you get a cheap daily driver so you don't have to rush to get the body done,Also if you have any leaks in the engine or trans after you put some miles on them you can fix while the body gets done.

i would just wait to do any thing and buy a daily and then do the drivetrain and then the body. while you have the engine and trans out go on and have the engine bay done. put it all it and then take it to the body shop. blasting is easier and faster buy you coulg get some 36 grit on a bondo buster and strip it that way.

Not to hijack his post, but I was wondering if there were any good sources for blasting media. I get black beauty sand here in town but I was actually thinking about buying some plastic media or whatever (still looking for options) so I can blast the outer sheet metal also.
I plan to finish up the floors, then blast the whole car, etch and epoxy prime as soon as I finish cleaning.

Well, motor and tranny are in good running order as is. It's a 454 and a borg warner 4 speed. I was planning on upgrading to a T56 and either rebuilding the motor or going with a crate small block.

I just wanted to make sure I got a good estimate for bodywork before I spent money for things that already work.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see. :seizure:
