      any home methods?

well i started to sand my trunk lid to see how hard it was gonna be, and i noticed inbetween the exterior panel and interior panel that its rusting. is there anything i can pour down inside to stop the rusting? or is cutting them apart going to be my best bet? there was a little bit of bondo on the trunk lid so im cuirous to see what else is on the car. hope fully car will be apart by monday.

      Whoa hold ona min

I am no body expert But I would have to say DO NOT cut it apart.
the trunk lid halves are rolled edges and you will make a huge mess.

go have the lid acid diped it would cost you probebly 100 to 150 bucks and if its an O/G then I would suggest you keep it if its in good shape.
I hear that the aftermarkett lids are for Schiezen and fit like Schiezen too. do a search on decklids in the body section

You could also try the electrolytic (sp?) rust remover.

      Try this. http://www.safestrustremover.com/

I've talked to a few guys that said it works as advertised.

I used por-15 myself. It works great so far.

Or you could hit it with one of the rust converters like POR-15 or Eastwoods version of which I cannot recall the name.

Just checked Eastwoods website. The stuff is called "Rust Encapsulator".

Just a thought, but how much is a Goodmark replacement trunk lid? If it's badly rusted and considering time is money, it might be cheaper to start with a new lid.

The reproduction stamped deck lids were horrible back in the day for fit and finish. Supposedly, new dies have been aquired and the quality has improved considerably. I'd still want to see one before I ordered. My car was a frame off and I poured Eastwoods rust encapsulator in the areas where the blaster couldn't get. Seems to be holding up good.
