Thinking of 315/30-18 rear. Any thoughts?

I am thinking about using a 315/30-18 rear tire on my 67' Firebird. I am wondering is this a common size? Also, do you guys/gals think the height will be too short? I think it is around 25 & 1/2" tall. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated. Also, just a little background I am considering 235/40 -18 for the front and the car will have a DSE mini-tub kit with leaf springs (3" drop).

I have that set up. I wish I could have found a 315/35/18. I think once my ride height is settled it will look OK. I went with the 315s out back and 265s up front. I think the spread between 335s and 265s is just too much in my opinion.

These pictures are on a fresh suspension with no weight...sits way high. (GW UCA & LCA, QA1 CoilOvers, and DSE 3" Drop).

      315/30/18

There is a black 69 with white stripes on lateral g's home page that has 265/35/18's on the rear. They are within .1 of the height of the 315/30/18's. I think they look good. Also I noticed Bf goodrich drag radials 315/30 are a little taller at 25.6 inches.

I'm going with 315/30/18 and a 245/40/18 on the front, unless I go against everything I've always said and squeeze a 335/30/18 back there!

I have always said I think a 315 fits better than a 335 on a 67-8 camaro...but I also feel the 315 should be on at least an 11-11.5" wheel to help straighten the sidewalls. Right now I have a 315 on a 10" wheel and don't care for the look...

As far as tire height goes, the 315/30/18 will be fine and a good match for the front, but it won't fill the wheel well opening completely unless your car is lowered a lot! My car is actually sitting this low right now for mockup, I can shoot you a pic if you would like...

AWR68, yes please send me a pic. As far as lowering the back, I am going to run 3" drop springs from DSE.

Goodyear yes. Though I hear the Eagle F1's tend to chunk with track use on heavier cars.
      BFG yes.
Michi has a 285 and a 335 in the Pilot sports (they do have a 315 in the Pilot Sport comp "r" rated....sweet)

Do the 265's scrub up front? how wide of a wheel are you using? Backspace? spacers? I'm trying to find some 315's but they are all to damn expensive.

I am running 18x11.5 in the Rear and 18x9 up front. The back spacing on the front is 5.75 b/s (I believe...I will have to find the build sheet.) Then I used a 1/4'' spacer....so 5.5bs should be OK. I will probably have a little bit of rub but I am using GW UCA and LCAs. And the tire is 265/35/18 which is 25.3 inches. A popular tire size on the Camaros is 245/40/18, which is 25.7 inches.
