Hey everyone.

I am working on a 79 SS El Camino. Talk about a new meaning of a g-body. Well I have lowered it with 3 inch drop springs in the rear with a 1 inch sway bar and 3 way adjustable race shocks. I also put in some umi perfomance rear upper and lower control arms. The front has 1 inch drop springs from hotchkis, 2 inch droop spindles and 1 5/16 front sway bar, and the same front shocks. All the bushings have been replaced with polyureathane bushings. There are a couple of chassis braces to give the car a little more structural stiffness. I am running 235 60 series on 15inch rims. I want the best handling car i can make, but only have a college student budget. do you have any suggestions?

What would be a good set of shocks to go with? And what should I look for in the big rims and small side walls? Everyone I know wants me to keep the 15's because they look right on the car but I want to corner faster than I already am. I want something that will keep up or beat the sports cars (vettes, firebird, camaros, mustangs).

I haven't seen them in any catalogs or web pages. I have a simular suspension set up on my 87 cutlass, but I had to use honda civic rear springs to go that low and stiff.

Unfortunetly these are exlusive of each other.

Better shocks, springs and a good rim/tire combo can help.

Check out posts from a guy with the screen name KAA. He has a pretty stout Elco.
