      Black or Two Tone?

Quick question I wanted to poll people about. We're still deciding on the exterior design for my 1965 mercury comet. Original plan was all black (possibly with a "ghost" stripe down the side using pearls, etc.). After seeing a couple of two tone cars, I'm wondering what people think about black on top and silver on the bottom. the black would come down over the side of the car to the top of the ridge that runs down the length of the car. Here is a pic of the car (before it was blasted) to help get an image of what it would look like with a two-tone exterior:

I still think I like the idea of all black, but it would be great to get views from others. Thanks!

the comet is if possible even more boxy than my 56 mustang, and when i painted it all black the first time i had it appart (why is it i cant leave well enough alone??) anyway, it was as if most of the contours were erased, leaving me with a large black shoebox...

so my advice would be to do the two tone... but chose the second color wisely.. like a dark (high tech looking) anthrazite grey and a raven black for the rest of the car... especially if yao are going to shave a lot of chrome off

      thats my 0.02$

2 tone for sure. Black hides almost all body lines so on top will be fine. BTW mine will also be black top silver on the sides.

The key to 2 toning it will be where you split the the paint.Black on top will make the top look short, kinda like it's chopped and bring more attention to the bottom of the car.

Judging by that photo, 2 tone would look pretty nice on that particular body but I would do the color break inside of the headlights rather than up over the top of them at the shoulderline (what you see on most 2 tone cars). It will look more like a very wide stripe than 2 tone. That large spear shaped character line on the door and fenders won't look right with the color break 3 inches above it. I guess I'd have to see more pictures to get a better idea how it'll look.

High contrast 2 tones (black and silver) give off a very highend, tuxedo look.

With the long straight body lines, a two tone would look great.

Two Tone for sure. It will definately add to the look of that particular body style.

normally I would say black, but on that car a two tone would be better because there isn't any trim on the side to accent the body lines.
